Re: Category structures

Morning, My usage of the categories is not technical. I use it to keep track of the usage of my photos. Currently I keep track of which photos are used in which printed Photobook or Calender. These two types of items I use now and then as give aways to people. Later on I will (most likely) extend th...

Re: Script-based filters for images with orphan keywords

Vlad, I now understand your scrips, you explanation was brilliant I think you meant to say that 313 is filtered in by "unassigned" but not by "unknown". Now, look at the keyword in 313. My guess is that the catalog contains a label with the same name as the keyword, but that label is not currently a...

Re: Script-based filters for images with orphan keywords

Thanks a lot Vlad for your help, here are my first comments For testing I used a date range of 1990 - 1999 and in there I have 2118 images Using the "unassigned" filter I get 17 selected Using the "unknown" filter I get 16 selectde. Of these two sets the 16 are same. The extra one in Unknown filter ...

As an aside, I use PS as my primary DAM and occasionally need to print basic photos for others. Nothing fancy, just standard default templates. The templates in PS are fine for my purposes so I hope you will continue to support at least those basics.
Well said, I fully agree

Re: Writing metadata seems to update also the catalog

Try this: Filter -> Filter By Macro Command and specify: %xmp:dc:subject + Doesn't Equal + leave the value empty. This will keep only the images without keywords in their metadata. (If you wanted to filter out all images with labels, you could invoke: Filter -> Label -> With no labels.) Thanks Vlad...

Re: Writing metadata seems to update also the catalog

Friends,

I forgot the ultimate question .... How do I filter out the images that have any keyword attached to them?

Re: Writing metadata seems to update also the catalog

Just be aware that every once in a while you might have to refresh the screen to display changes. If nothing changed when you expected a change, try refreshing the screen. Mike, I was not aware of this need. Could you tell me a simple way to refresh the screen? Would it include the need to restart ...

Re: Writing metadata seems to update also the catalog

Gentlemen, Thanks to Vlad and Mike I am starting to understand a few things while other are still not clear ... as it is said "I am still confused but now on a higher level" For what it is worth, below are my detailed notes from when I worked on the two files. Maybe they can be of value to someone. ...

Re: Writing metadata seems to update also the catalog

Thanks to all, I am still a bit confused (easily done) Thanks for pointing out the setting of "Keyword processing", must say I hadn't considered that as part of this drama. Mike: I'm confused about why your catalog is being changed, as I'm not understanding the details that exist before and after th...

Re: Writing metadata seems to update also the catalog

Thanks, should have provided this from start. Below is a snapshot of the preferencies. Also attached details about the label called Archive. I have not set up this label myself so have never seen this Catalog Label panel before. This label (and some others also assigned to same photo) are folder nam...

Writing metadata seems to update also the catalog

Morning, I have 2 photos, called 109 and 112, both scanned from old slides. 109 has the label Archive while 112 only has keyword Archive. The reason why I have Archive as a keyword in some files and as a label in others is unclear. This messy situation is what I am trying to un-mess. Maybe below beh...

Re: Return to prior state?

Use of Recipes may not be the same as Histroy panel in Photoshop. But at least it is a way to go if you want to test some actions before implementing them. And a Recipe can easily be removed so you get back to where you started.

Re: Photo Supreme, an alternative to Paperless or Paperport?

Morning, My main interest is to collect Memories, which can be photos, documents, film, recordings, objects ... Whatever they are I try to digitise them, like taking a digital photo of a painting. These digitised items I then try to structure and document. A lot of these items are photos so my key n...

My ups and downs

Morning, Tom did recently explain that Red Eye Reduction is good for him and I agree to that. But this is not the only gold nugget inside PSU. Below I list a few other small things that are key to me. At the same time I have named a few things where I can see "room for improvement". CATALOG ALL ... ...
