Excellent, hadn't realised it would play, with the associated program, on a double click.
Happy Christmas to all you PSU-ers!

Re: Attached audio side car file
There's certainly nothing stopping you adding an audio format file (or any other kind) to PSU's list of file types that it manages (do this in preferences); and you can easily add an audio playback program to the list of tools in PSU so you can easily play back within PSU (again this is done in pref...

Re: Another newbie question
Without in any way trying to dictate someting that is not essential and that another person might prefer a different way: I would very much recommend a unique name unless one's workflow precludes it. I can't think of any good reasons not to (but maybe your w/f has something) so why wouldn't you? It'...

Re: Naming import subfolder discrepancy
I've had it be a bit tempramental in the past - I often check the text version of the rule when I've modified it just to make sure (i.e. as well as the "wizard" dialogue you screenshotted)
[is that really the past tense of screenshot? screenshat? (:-o) is it even a verb??!]

Re: Another newbie question
Rhod, it may help just to recap on a few basic - with humble apologies if you are already well aware of all this. PSU maintains *all* its info about images in its main catalog (database). This information is collectively known as metadata. Auxillary to this main catalog file it has a secondary datab...

Re: Newbie question regarding Portfolios
Welcome Rhod, I am sure you will find PSU immensely useful. To address your post: What you are doing is what categories/labels are intended for, rather than portfolios, as Jim says. Portfolios are intended for pulling together the best of your pictures, and potentially (though not necessaruly) acros...

Re: resilio sync anyone?
Frank, just some thoughts: - "Replaying" the image file data back into the "other" database should work, but it does feel a bit clunky and potentially prone to error. - If you are not both working on the private images at the same time, could you not just transfer the whole database - i.e. catalog f...

Hope that works for you - let us know how you get on!
But do preserve the current files first so if it doesn't work you have them as a starting point if you so wish!

PS - If the database was corrupted due to cancelling the compact, I wonder if re-compacting would repair it? (Just the catalog file, not the thumbnail file)

Re: Category Gone! Help!
It does sound very strange. It's interesting that at least some of the labels still appear to be assigned albeit at the top level (as indicated by lack of parent when you right click on the label in the LAP and select "edit label details" and also the empty parentheses as you described). So maybe wo...

Re: Category Gone! Help!
Are you sure you didn't accidentally and without noticing (it's suprisingly easy) drag NAMES to be under another category? That test image - select that with the label assignment panel open and check NAMES is still assigned and if so what its parent is. If not assigned and only existing as a keyword...

how to copy path and filename
Anyone know of a quick way to copy an image's file path and file name? I can't see anything on the right-click menu? And that field in the info panel is not copyable.
Thanks
Thanks

Re: google maps probplem...
Giving Google my credit card details is absolutely the last thing I want to do. While it's understandable that they charge for bulk usage it's frustrating that they are enforcing cc entry for everyone instead of just those who do or want to exceed the free limits.
