Re: How to purge labels from database?

I *think* what Phil is actually asking is what is the difference between a label and a keyword? Phil, you can refer to my post with the diagram, and many other forum threads cover this topic. But essentially labels are a heirarchically-structured set of, well, labels, they are what you see when you ...

Re: How to purge labels from database?

You can select "do not not modify keywords" in preferences > synchronise settings > keyword processing. Or just not sync. But normally they would be.

Re: How to purge labels from database?

Tom, I don't disagree with what you say. But it doesn't invalidate what Frank said. A basic understanding of where the data lives is necessary before you can start thinking properly about what affects the data in each location. And without understanding where the data lives one will struggle to unde...

Re: How to purge labels from database?

I have to agree, not understanding the basic mechanism of how the catalog and the metadata in the image file relate to each other, and how they are updated by events like a sync, is bound to end in tears. This thread, back in the IDI days, explained it all. The diagram I posted back then has been re...

Flickr workround

Here's a workround for the Flickr transfer issues. Flickr has an email upload facility. If you look on your account page, check out the emails section, you will find your personalised email address. Use PSU to email your pictures to this address. Not ideal for larger numbers of photos but it does wo...

Re: Duplicate files sent to Flickr

Oh dear... the portfolio sync is broken as well. Uploaded 4 pictures and got 3 copies of two of them. Edit: running sync again, on the same collection without making any changes, uploads another 2 copies... so I have 5 copies of one of the images now. So I (still) can't use PSU to upload to flickr. ...

Re: Logic in prefering data entry via labels over keywords

Hert is surely already aware of my repeated descriptions of the problem. If he wants to attend to it, there should be no reason for anyone to take the time to list it and follow it up in Mantis. That last point is a matter of customer service that apparently he and I will always disagree about. Hi ...

Re: Batch Commands

A short while ago I raised these questions in mantis, as they have previously not been adequately answered in the forums. The mantis question is http://mantis.idimager.com/view.php?id=3013. The threads where these questions have been previously asked are: http://forum.idimager.com/viewtopic.php?f=57...

Re: Duplicate files sent to Flickr

PS Portfolio sync still seems to work - at least on a one-off test it did, though with a seemingly random problem like this you can never be sure - so this may provide a possible workround for you while the issue gets fixed.

Re: Duplicate files sent to Flickr

Hi Bob Yes I am also experiencing this. The flickr uploader has not worked properly for a very long time, it is frustrating. From looking at Mantis it is reported in issues 2976 (which you have commented on) and 2969 (the one you raised) with further notes in 2998 (which I raised about what turned o...

Re: Funky Description field

@fbungarz: Hi Frank. I seem to recall Hert said somewhere that the unresolved bug reports remain active regardless of what project they are under, but I would struggle to find that reference now. Hopefully that is the case. There seems to be no way of moving a bug from, say, V2 to V3. @Stephen: than...

Re: Funky Description field

If you don't see a bug it may be because the "project" field, at the top of the screen, which acts as a filter, is set to a different version of PSU (e.g. PSU3) than the one the bug was originally raised under. I've fallen for that a few times

Re: Questions about "Export to Folder"

Re the original questions, (1) This operates the same as other forms of sharing such as Flickr upload (not unreasonably). Changes such as non-destructive edits are ONLY applied to the output if sizing is in operation - use "original size" if necessary as a kind of null operation. See http://forum.id...

Re: Viewer problems

I certainly wouldn't argue with that good advice either, but just to add that I have used it for many years with no issues, it is a very mature product and in addition seems to take a conservative rather than an aggresive (risky) approach to cleaning. What it cleans (and how) is highly customisable....

Re: Problems importing images

@Mike, thanks for that, maybe it was just a glitch for me @Tom, hard to tell if that's related or not TBH. Shame you couldn't solve the root cause issue - weird that PN touches other files in the folder. But maybe it does no significant update on them, so you wouldn't really need to resync? You coul...
