Re: possible to add basket to dynamic search?

Frank, It is possible. There may better ways to accomplish this but what I did was to type "basket" into the search field and in the list that appeared under the search field a collection named basket came up. I selected that from the list and this filter was created: "text("Basket"@COLL)". Then I a...

Re: How to assign parent labels?

enonod, You seem to have stumbled onto a recently discovered bug that has not yet been resolved. There are several different ways in which to assign labels. One of those is to use the drop down list that appears when you click on the magnifying glass in the Label Assignment Panel. Doing it that way,...

Sorry about that! My mistake. It did cause me to question whether the server versions of PSU have the same issue with search data. I would be interested to know.

Re: Why does synching increase catalog file size?

Can you do all this with the Personal version or do you need the Professional version? I believe the two versions of PSU that are currently available are now called "Single User" and "Server" editions. I use the single user edition, which uses a SQLite database, so, yes, you can do all of this with...

Re: Why does synching increase catalog file size?

Now I wonder: should I continue to use the 3.7 database or go back to the 9.2 GB original one? Of course I do not want to loose any data ... I would err on the side of caution and keep using the 9.2 GB database until Hert confirms that doing what you did was safe and won't cause issues in the futur...

Re: Why does synching increase catalog file size?

Frank, It didn't work as I had hoped it would. On the contrary, my catalog increased in size significantly. Now I'm wondering if I should use the new larger database or go back to the old one. Is there search data that the old one is missing? I was not having any issues with performance before doing...

Re: Why does synching increase catalog file size?

Frank, After doing some searching on virtual tables in SQLite, I believe that they do consume at least some disk space and potentially a lot of disk space. From what I read, they are tables that are created in order to take advantage of FTS (full text search) functionality. Depending on how the tabl...

It would be interesting to know how much of the 9.1 GB the idSearchData table is occupying. I suspect it is a significant portion.

Re: Why does synching increase catalog file size?

Frank, I have no expertise in this area so please don't take anything I say as fact, but, I was curious about your situation so I started to poke around my catalog database with a SQLite client that I downloaded and looked at some of my tables and how many records they contained. The idSearchData ta...

Re: How can I cycle between a selection of photos in full screen mode?

Actually, I understand well what Barneagle wants to do. I have found myself wanting to do the same many times but have never figured a way to do so easily. I use the light table to compare images but often want to see them full screen and flip back and forth through those images quickly in full scre...

Re: Larger "larger preview"

I use the Shift + Enter key combination all the time to view images full screen and the Esc key to return to thumbnail view. It's lightening fast so why not just preview full screen if you want to see larger images. Also, you can navigate through your collection in full screen by using the arrow key...

Re: hierarchal labels

I can select any of the end values, Etoshia, Deadvlei, etc but if i try to select Sossusvlei, the parent of Deadvlei, it doesn't get applied. Okay, I was a little confused but I started experimenting and found one possible scenario in which you would experience what you're describing. The problem i...

Re: hierarchal labels

Actually, this is very consistent. Mapped metadata only get deleted from a field, if they correspond to labels from the Places category and the People category. This is because labels from these two categories get automatically mapped to their XMP fields. Frank, are you sure about that? I did some ...

Re: hierarchal labels

I can't assign C, expecting A and B to also be assigned, without D Actually, you should be able to do this to a fresh image. In other words, a file that has no location data or GEO coordinates already written to any of it metadata fields. As Frank pointed out, PSU will attempt to read any data that...
