SqlServer version and DNG verification

Hert, Interesting day. Just realized you have a server version (good!) and that Lr5 has a DNG verification feature ... it can go through the catalog and verify the hash-tag data on all included DNG files (the only real reason to go the DNG route that appeals to me). This DNG verification makes the b...

Re: Why Versions without VDW etc.

For me, I agree with Mike's comment above that a lack of good versioning is a deal-breaker. It's that important for what I need THIS program for. Why learn another program if it won't do any more in DAM for my work-needs than Lightroom, which I need to use for my main work-in-progress software. At t...

Re: Clarification on versions?

Still not sure ... if the file names are NOT identical to the left of the dot, does PhoSup "see" that they are "versions" of the same image when using the manual OR batch process? As again, nearly all our originals and derivatives would be name thusly: Woolsey_137.nef Woolsey_137_layered.tif Woolsey...

Re: Clarification on versions?

Ahh ... if "identically named to the left of the dot ... " ... um ... that would rule out nearly ALL our derivative files, as the "base" name, such as "Wolfington_037" of the "original" file will be addended to in the derivatives, partly of course as LR want to ... but mainly as we need to so that w...

Re: Why Versions without VDW etc.

Tom, For a business like mine, a portrait studio ... EVERY one of our clients has both "origianl" RAW files, and further ... at least one if not many 'worked' files derived FROM the originals that are of course in TIFF or PSD format, or ... in the case of enlarged files, probably a JPEG format. We'v...

Clarification on versions?

Just wanting to be completely clear on the way PhSup treats an image in multiple formats ... From reading through tons of messages, it would seem that PhSup ONLY "sees" an identically named combo of RAW/JEPG as "the same image". What in IdI-5 would have been called versions. I understand that PhoSup...

In agreement ... and very sadly so.

Re: file-manager

It must be difficulty to create a stable, easy to use, good (intuitive) looking, feature-rich DAM-Software. I don't want Lightroom. I hate monopoles. Apparently so! I think it's both difficult to create the software AND to then attract enough user-base to make it profitable to continue with the pro...

No Workspaces, no multiple monitors, no file management, versioning seriously reduced, labeling capability seriously reduced, a number of drag & drop actions turned into 4 or 5 manual step tasks ... yea, sadly ...

Re: Lighttable

Hert ... You are probably aware that just because IdI-5 can technically keep 'running' does not mean that, for very long at least, it will be usable for many of us. Camera and operating system upgrades blow out the usability of any unsupported program ... and sometimes, rather quickly. Losing the fi...

Re: file-manager

Glad you liked the Workbook, silverblue. I rather unceremoniously removed the website this morning. Mike, Thanks so much for the workbook ... and your personal help around here. You were so helpful BOTH in understanding IdI-5 here on the forum, and in understanding how to most benefit from that won...

Re: Sadly lacking ...

Hert, Thank you, I hope you find PSU just as pretty, clean and modern Um ... I'm not worried really so much how it looks as to what it does ... and how quickly I can do what *I* need to get done. Pretty is for amateurs ... It does contain screenshots to display what the product looks like. No it doe...

Re: Difference between supreme and IDI5

Well, one of the first things that has become clear ... Photo Supreme has no file management capability whatever. Need to make a new folder? Go to your system accessories to do that .. Windows "Explorer" or whatever it is on Mac. Need to transfer part of your library? Sorry ... gotta leave the progr...

Re: file-manager

Mike ... I would so like to be able to agree with most of your statement, but I cannot. We were promised in the STRONGEST terms by Hert personally that IdImager would be continued, and then ... without any "bridging" comments ... Hert simply announces that IdImager is dead and as of yesterday is tot...

Sadly lacking ...

Hert, The new website is pretty, clean, modern ... and sadly and utterly lacking in any actual information. I'm rather stunned. There's no info whatever (past a couple on-angle screen captures) as to what the "new" product looks like, how it works, no comparison of features with IDI5 let alone Light...
