Re: V6 Update database update; how long?
UPDATE: I noticed build 3546 was posted. I installed it (right over the previous 3541) and it swiftly moved right past the conversion dialog and opened my last used (in V5) tab. Which tells me that the conversion had already been accomplished, but for some reason could not proceed and would crash. S...

Re: V6 Update database update; how long?
Hert, I don't know what else to do except completely remove PSu and try to re-install it. I let database conversion try to run for the last 18 or so hours and when I came to it this morning all I saw was the spinning beach ball again. CPU at 0%. Had to kill it again. Any suggestions? There is someth...

Re: V6 Update database update; how long?
OK. After 2+ hours of waiting and 0% CPU usage, I killed the application. Rebooted the computer and tried again. This time I watched the Activity monitor while starting the program. PhotoSupreme initially uses a small amount of CPU (spike to 21.9%) then after about 5 seconds drops to 0 and shows "No...

Re: V6 Update database update; how long?
Hert, Thanks for the quick response! Out of 45,000+ images around 600 of them use areas. It's been over an hour now, and still at the "Do you want to upgrade the database?" info dialog and spinning beach ball... CPU Usage is 0% for PhotoSupreme and 0% for 8 threads of PosgreSQL. I really cannot tell...

Re: V6 Update database update; how long?
I am on my third try. (macOS Big Sur -11.1, PostgreSQL 12) So far each time I elect to upgrade and I get the spinning beach ball. The first 2 times I force quit after about 20 minutes each. The third time I am letting it go longer....so far 30 minutes. I was running a very recent build of PhotoSupre...

Re: Errors during Geo-Tagging
Hert, Yes, I followed the recommendation in the PostgreSQL Installation Manual, but apparently it wasn't enough for the max_connections (50 x # of concurrent users = 100). So I bumped it up to 250 and that seems to have taken care of the errors. Thanks again for the support Hert! Again very impresse...

Errors during Geo-Tagging
After about a week of installing PostgreSQL, migrating from the single-user edition to server edition (converting databases), researching and implementing a backup strategy and overall familiarization with my new server setup, I got back to the business of photo collection curation. One task is geo-...

Re: PostgreSQL Database (Server Edition) Backup Procedure
Hert, Thanks for the information. Since I'm on a Mac, I will have to modify the details, but use a similar method. While using the pgAdmin tool to test making backups, I discovered that if you hit the "details" button, it will give you the command that it generated (using the options you previously ...

PostgreSQL Database (Server Edition) Backup Procedure
I have upgraded from the single-user to the Server Edition for PostgreSQL. (reference this topic --> Moving to Server Edition ) I am up and running with a server node which hosts the PostgreSQL database (using Postgre.app) and PSu (client) application on a MacPro. Also have a MacBook Pro with just t...

Re: Moving to Server Edition
Success! That was it. Not sure what happened, but it's fixed now. Both server and client machines are working! :D By the way, what information is in the registry.db file or what function does it serve? Obviously it's not critical as it can be deleted and re-created by PSu. While in that directory (~...

Re: Moving to Server Edition
1. Did you get the database malformed message in the Single or Server edition? All the errors I posted were generated by the server edition. 2. If you used the setting a from the manual for pg_hba then you should be able to connect from anywhere (the /0 at the end means that connection can be made ...

Re: Moving to Server Edition
The message "database disk image is malformed" is an error from SQLite (PSU Single Edition Catalog). I thought you said the single-user edition and the server edition could co-exist on the same machine(s). I have both editions installed on both server and client machines. At some point I would aban...

Re: Moving to Server Edition
Hert, Thank you for the guidance. I was able to setup PostgreSQL 12 using the Postgre.app method. (The EDB Mac OS X installer was not co-operating, but that's another story). Anyway, after initial modifications to the pg_hba.conf and postgresql.conf files I was able to convert my single-user catalog...

Moving to Server Edition
Hi all. This morning I received the newsletter advertising the Server Double License sale. As a Single User Edition user for a year now, I was able to take advantage of the 60% off crossgrade offer and still get two server licenses. Had been thinking about upgrading to the Server version for a while...

Re: Not launching on macos
Hert, Thank you for quickly implementing a preventive measure. However, I was able to isolate the issue to just my user account. I logged into my “Admin” account (for troubleshooting) and found that I could run PSu (in trial mode since the license is on the other user account Documents folder). So w...
