Re: label duplication in "Miscellaneous" category

I have spent several hours (wet afternoon!) exploring a hunch about what might cause this by writing metadata to file for multiple clones of a jpeg file using different write preferences for each clone, and then importing the files into a series of different experimental catalogs with different read...

Re: Documentation on Preferences

Predictably, Hert is not responding. As is stated at the bottom of all Hert's posts: "This is a User-to-User forum which means that users post questions here for other users. Feature requests, change suggestions, or bugs can be logged in the ticketing system." Your question " Please tell me where I...

Re: Version set down arrow not appearing

The arrow problem is fixed for a 100% view. At other view magnifications various odd things happen to the tabs, sometimes obscuring the arrow again. I suppose a new mantis entry is in order.

Re: Version set down arrow not appearing

Here too, with 2032 on Windows. With careful examination just the very tip of the arrow is visible/available at the bottom right of the tab for version 6 with the view at 100%. Actually clicking in the right place is very hit and miss but can work (got it just once after much trying). Expanding to 3...

Re: Custom thumbnail view problems

I thought I would be able to set the number of lines the for the text display as well as the thumbnail size. You can define more than one line. Every line in the dialog produces a line of info under each thumb. When you add a specification to the blank bottom line of the dialog a further blank appe...

Re: C1 v12 Edits & PSu v4.3 display

C1 and other raw converters/parametric editors save details of the settings needed in that application to generate your final result. Most of the settings are proprietary and follow undisclosed recipes. The "Elementary" support level in PSu applies only settings that it can duplicate - crop and rota...

Re: C1 v12 Edits & PSu v4.3 display

Also, with versions I seem to have a thumbnail for each version, is there a way to only see one file record with the version tabs? Each of my appearances at the moment are the different versions with the versions tabs there to take you to the alternate if that makes sense. Are you using the Folders...

The answer will probably be in one of the hits from a Google search on "windows 10 duplicate icons in taskbar"

Re: Attached audio side car file

I hadn't thought about this before but have just successfully tried this: Added .mp3 to PSu's file types. Copied and renamed an mp3 file and a jpeg image file into a temporary folder, giving them the same names (excluding extension). Automatically versioned. Switched through the thumbnail version ta...

Re: Another newbie question

Yes it depends on the workflow would agree, but no actual need functionally for a unique filename, but yes I can see it would depend on each set of folder structures depending on workflow(s). I apologise for being so insistent, but I want to make absolutely sure that other readers of the forum are ...

Re: Another newbie question

but conversely with every image having a separate unique file name then Versioning can never work automatically you will have to manually select versioning for every group! Actually that is not the case. The preference for "Version Set detection mask" determines how matching works. Note the wildcar...

Re: Another newbie question

With some workflows problems may never occur, but having non-unique filenames in a PSu catalogue is an accident waiting to happen. Say that two different images named as File0001.jpg and containing quite different images are present in two different folders. Run automatic version detection with a sc...

Re: Another newbie question

Lots of good information in this thread, but going back to the opening questions: I am not an Affinity Photo user but have looked at its capabilities. The "afphoto" files are proprietary, are equivalent to "psd" files in Photoshop, and can contain all of the "layers" that are used in advanced image ...

Re: Newbie question regarding Portfolios

Some advice - don't try to import and work with a large number of files when you first start. You will probably make a few mistakes and may need to start from scratch! Import just enough to give you a cross section of what you need to work with, then explore the application, ask questions in the for...
