Re: Some PDF thumbnails fail to render

Mike - thanks for the quick response! As you suspected, I already have .PDF listed there as a Non-Image Format. Looking at this strictly from the perspective of the problematic PDF files themselves - maybe this is the source of the issue, not IDimager - I have not yet been able to determine if there...

Some PDF thumbnails fail to render

I have over 3,000 PDF files which I have categorized using IDimager (v5.1.3.6). The vast majority of these PDF files render a thumbnail as expected within the main view. However, there are several (~50) which do not render a thumbnail of the title page of the PDF - instead, what is rendered is a whi...

Search for (and replace) carriage returns in Description?

I have a large number of Description fields where I originally input more than one paragraph of content; when I got to the end of paragraph one, I would hit a carriage return twice before starting paragraph two. My current photo sharing service doesn't like having carriage return breaks within a sin...

Append to existing catalog labels from text file?

I use IDimager to tag a collection of family history items. A photo of John Doe might be labeled "John Doe" for example, along with many other labels. I am at a point where I have too many individuals named "John Doe" - and need to find a way to make each label unique. I plan to do so using the birt...

Keyboard shortcut to apply Detail Profile?

I have several Detail Profiles defined with text I would otherwise be repeatedly typing into the Description field, and I'd like to try and save even more time by assigning a keystroke to each profile. The use case: I select one or more images, and then press the defined keystroke, which then applie...

Printing template: thumbnail + metadata to the *right* ?

I want to figure out how to print metadata (information typically found in a caption) to the right of the image, not below it. I've used IDimager for several years now to catalog my collection of family genealogy materials: photos, documents, other artifacts, etc. As part of my broader attempts to b...

Re: Catalog label order

Woodie,

Sounds like maybe the same thing from this April 2009 thread?

Reordering / moving Catalog Labels doesn't "stick"

I'm having the problem described above with 4.2.0.6.

Re: Search script to find all items with 15+ catalog labels?

Hert, That's a winner :D ! I ran a few tests looking for "items with more than X labels" as well as "items with exactly X labels" - both appeared to work as expected. I also figured out my CHM problem mentioned above, found this on the wiki : IDimager uses several object classes and libraries that a...

Re: Search script to find all items with 15+ catalog labels?

So, here's why this is of interest to me. I use IDimager to track a collection of family history materials (photos, documents, books, etc.) - there are over 6,500 items in my current set. Most of these items have a relatively small (<10) number of Catalog Labels; for example, a photo of three people...

Search script to find all items with 15+ catalog labels?

I'd like to be able to generate a search to show me all items which have 15 or more catalog labels assigned. Is there a Search Script Guru out there who can put this together for me?

Thanks in advance,

Stored groups: can they include a meta information search?

I have two types of items in my IDimager collection: an item can be either a Document or a Photograph. If an item is a Document, then in the Description field you'll find the number of page(s) in the document; for example, if the Document is a 15-page PDF file, the Description field will begin "15 p...

Re: Reordering / moving Catalog Labels doesn't "stick"

Thanks for the quick responses! Is is the top category order, after restarting, restored to the same order as in your first installation? Lippe, the answer is "sometimes" - it is not the order in which I left it, but it is not always the original order either. I found the best way to make the order ...

Reordering / moving Catalog Labels doesn't "stick"

I've been having a number of issues with my IDimager installation, so I am starting over from scratch with a brand-new install and reimporting all of my images again. With this fresh installation, I imported my XML catalog structure (which I had exported out of the old installation). When I import a...

Re: New computer

You nailed it - I backed up the database with one name and then tried to to restore it to a fresh (but differently-named) database. When I renamed the new database to match the old, I could then restore it as expected. Thanks!

Re: New computer

All, I'm currently in the same process as Dan - moving from an old computer to a new computer. I used IDI's "Backup Catalog to Folder" to make a backup (including the registry file). I then installed the same version (4.0.0.5aProSL) to the new computer. On the new computer, I then open the Catalog M...
