Re: Any MacBook Pro users running OS12 here please?

Thanks, that is a great help. Is it also possible in PSu to change from dark mode to light mode, i.e. black letters on white? Especially in the right hand pane / column?

Any MacBook Pro users running OS12 here please?

I am looking for a MacBook Pro user running OS12 who would be willing to send me a screen shot please. After many years, Apple have finally started replacing the interfaces which they removed from their laptops and which made life on the road with many external hard drives impossible. Now I can once...

Re: Future proofing storage space - brainstorming

Thanks for the feedback. I sometimes need to collate images by theme, taken over many years. Some of them maybe not yet even be processed, so web access in not practical. I always have a backlog as priorities often change. I must probably accept, again, that being on the forefront -- or "bleedi...

Re: Future proofing storage space - brainstorming

Thanks
    Mke,

I fear that would be difficult or impossible on a Mac and of course it doesn't cover travel, as you mentioned. But it was useful to hear a different approach.

How do other users here store a large number of images?

    Happy New Year to all!

Re: Future proofing storage space - brainstorming

Thanks Hert and sorry for my mistake. My PSu catalog is not 4TB. I was referring to the size of all catalogued image files on my hard drive. I would prefer to keep all images on one single drive and not to split them, IF possible.

A Happy & Successful New Year, Hert

Future proofing storage space - brainstorming

I would appreciate feedback from other PSu users, however crazy, please. My current tunnel vision is based on what has been working well for years, but it’s approaching limits. (original text has now been corrected below "My PSu database is") My images catalogued in PSu now fill 4TB of a 5...

Re: How is a RAID drive seen?

Thanks, I could not get that link to work but I am in Mexico anyway. I have searched Amazon USA extensively and could not find a match. I did find an 8TB SSD which at $1000 is on the high side. But, there were several very negative comments from other professional image makers that I decided not to ...

Re: How is a RAID drive seen?

    @snowman - Thanks, I must investigate

@GBDHE - Thanks, if you can point me to a small portable drive >6TB I would be most grateful. I have been unable to find one which is currently available for purchase.

How is a RAID drive seen?

I'm considering buying am 8TB LaCie RAID as I cannot find a portable drive large enough for my growing image directory. I do not intend to use the RAID function however.

Would PSu see this RAID as 2 separate drives as that would defeat the object?

    Thanks

    re-dating files - problems

I forgot to reset a camera due to change in time zone and I'm having problems re-dating the files. The re-dating panel has multiple options and I'm unsure which I need as my tests have not worked. I shoot RAW + JPG simultaneously and one test just re-dated the JPGs and not the RAWs, so I will start ...

Re: Question regarding “Map to the Correct Physical Folder”

Yes, I did that several times and it works perfectly. Some Apps like Capture One are a mess if you have work in progress (maybe over a long timeframe) and meanwhile change your drive. You are forced to remap each image individually, you cannot even batch select per folder. I realise that Capture One...

Restoring is of the finest - Hert is a genius

I never realized that restoring a backup will not overwrite newer data created since the backup. That newer data will be subsequently updated when using the verify folder function.

I have never seen that functionality before.

    Hert is a genius! :D :D :D

    Re: Copy to folder commands

Could I send you two files for comparison by dropbox please? I got stranded in South America with the Covid scare and cannot obtain a good monitor here. I would appreciate if you could pixel peep for me please.

    Re: Copy to folder commands

Thanks, but what actually happens to the image? Is there any quality change? I can see that the file gets considerably smaller.

    Yes, it's version 3.3.0
I bought v. 4 but had problems with the font size on my machine, so I re-installed v. 3
