Re: Crashes when importing a large collection of files

I had similar problems with DXO crashing when I first got that (years ago), despite everything else working flawlessly. After extensive testing with Windows Driver Verifier and Who Crashed I eventually tracked it down to an incorrectly configured memory setting in BIOS. So it's certainly worth runni...

Re: Time Line corruption?

With the first camera invented supposedly in 1816, I am not even sure many folks did already use one in the 1870's - which your screenshot implies I have inherited a few from the 1880's - and possibly some older ones in a large batch that I haven't scanned yet - so it may not be that unusual! Howev...

I have had one or two updates that must have taken a similar time, so I'd stay with it.

Re: Update Version set.

I am not sure I understand what you want. Your custom file mask includes virtually any image format to be selected as album display. I am not surprised that this doesn't work. How is the program supposed to know which image format it should use as album display??? If you include just any ... ...I w...

Re: How to disable stacking?

As well as on import, PSU used to stack files when 'verifying folder / scanning for missing files. Setting the following stops that:

Re: Auto Import

I don't use Affinity, so don't know if saving the file as .afphoto strips the metadata from it. If it doesn't, then an alternative (to fbungarz's solution) would be to write the metadata from PSU to the RAW file. That way any images processed from the RAW file should automatically have the metadata ...

Re: TIFs going bad (black & transparent)

I only have 704 TIFs in my collection (most of them scanned prints, all of them with PSU-generated metadata embedded in them) and I've never seen a problem. As a check I just rebuilt the thumbnails of a batch of them and they all still look good.

I've not used any of the other software you list.

Yes! LAP = Label Assignment Panel:

Re: folder state names / portfolio collections

To keep track of which images are uploaded, we use portfolio collections. It would be great to have an option to tag, which portfolios have been uploaded and which ones haven't. I can see that would be useful. Maybe linked to the 3 'Accessibility' options? At the moment I drag & drop published ...

Yes, use an image to transport the labels...

Label the Update Image with all the newly added new substances ..... Import that image to PSU on all the other machines - and all the new substances will be correctl...

However they can be renamed, which may be useful. Remember that some have specific functionality associated with them.

Re: some advice needed how to manage an unusual image collection

Is it normal that the green slide isn't labelled? If so, I'd use that one (only) to identify the specimens, using areas, and identify metabolites (only) on the other 3 slides. Obviously you turn off areas if you want to view the green slide uncluttered. Based on the way that PSU currently displays a...
