Re: keyword organization

@mike. Seems some of your examples are a bit too granular for me but I like the idea. Find the level that is right for you - you can always add more categories later. I've got a hierarchy with >12,000 thousand labels, and I still restructure it occasionally and regularly add new items :) I think I'...

Re: keyword organization

I follow much of Snowman's logic, but with a couple of tweaks on the schema. In particular I use the 'objects' category only for inanimate movable objects, and use several other top-level categories, notably, in this context, 'environment' and 'being'. A trip to the Eiffel Tower while on holiday wou...

Re: How to save detail profile edits

As soon as you type or paste in the description field, then the 'dot' will automatically change from 'don't make changes' to 'replace content' (if you have more than one image selected - otherwise there is no dot at all). You also have the option to manually change that to 'append to content' or 'cl...

Re: Google AI - spectacularly bad!

Well from the number of annoying CAPTCHAs I have to complete it must be very good at identifying fire hydrants, chimneys, traffic lights, cars, buses, bicycles and crosswalks.

Guess they've not moved on to boulders and dry stone walls yet :)

Re: Metadata migration

As another DxO user, I'd also advise using DxO only for its strength - image processing - and use only PSU for all DAM functions.

Re: Version detection

Thanks for the quick response Hert; I can confirm that build 3197 fixes the problems with my files mentioned above :)

Re: Version detection

I've just processed another 4 files, creating JPGs (using DxO) from CR2 files that had been previously labeled in PSU (version 3176). After importing them into PSU using Verify Folder, one of the batch displayed the duplicate labels issue. That file had 2 people labels, while the others had only 1. ...

Re: Version detection

Hi Germ, Thanks to your post, and some 'spare' time I've now been looking deeper too, and have found more-or-less the same thing. I agree that face detection isn't the problem - however the problem does only seem to affect images with more than one person label (it my particular set of images, in al...

Re: Version detection

Yes, I've just been versioning and get the same with newly versioned images too - but, it seems, only if more than one person in an image has been tagged with a face area.

Looks like a bug.

Re: Facial Recognition Instructions

I'd be interested too.

FWIW, I also proposed some ways in which face areas could be copied between images, in Mantis (logon required).

Re: Folder and file names on the file system

I'm not clear on why a super detailed folder structure is even needed when using Photo Supreme. Doesn't key wording, sorting, categories, ratings, etc cover all the bases? I ask because at this point I only have about 400 photos so if I'm to make a change now would be the time. Not when I have 4000...

Re: Folder and file names on the file system

Here's mine: Folder structure: <root>\photos\yyyy\nnn Short-Shoot-Name\then as here . .... (where nnn is a sequential number) A longer shoot name is normally applied as a label. File name Date only appears in the file name, which takes the structure: .... Photographer_Date_Camera_PhotoNumber

Re: Labeling a black and white image

Personally I stick with versions, and apply the label 'monochrome from color original'. As the RAW and TIFs / JPGs are in different folders in my case (see my folder structure) it's not a problem for me, and if I'm reviewing the RAWs it's useful to know that I have a monochrome version.

Re: What do you use your color labels for?

I normally use Color labels for highlighting images that have been published somewhere accessible to the general public - most commonly on my web site. During image processing colors are occasionally used as progress markers within folders - although I generally prefer to move images between tempora...

Re: Folder structure: Should I separate raw/jpg?

Should I separate my raw and jpg-files in two different folders? That's my preference. That way I keep easily select from only those images of a specific type - or all of them - without filtering within PSU, and I also find it useful when processing them (with DXO, in my case): | |-Processed JPGs |...
