Re: Can I import key words at a top level?

I think you can drag the top level categories you want out from under e.g. "Controlled Vocabulary" and drop it at the top level. For example I had "Camera" as a top level in some other software and then various cameras I have used under that. After this procedure "Camera" is listed with the default ...

Re: Questions concerning version FileName matching

Along the same lines: can the file mask designate subfolders e.g. original/*.JPG to one version and adjusted/*.JPG to another?

Re: How to access the full database without using Photo Supr

Thanks. I would definitely only try to manipulate the database using a different program in the (distant, I hope) future if I no longer can use Photo Supreme, but it's comforting to know that it should be possible. Does anyone have recommendations for an OSX replacement for SQlite Expert?

Re: Merging catalogs

Mike Buckley wrote: Nothing should be lost if your Write setting was enabled with "Write catalog data to IDImager ICS Scheme" when you wrote catalog data to the image files.
Can I switch that on now and resynchronize?

Merging catalogs

Is there a way to merge two Photo Supreme catalogs? I have a large master catalog of photos from 20 years of picture taking, but find that this is cumbersome to work with on a daily basis for importing and tagging new photos. So I set up a catalog for the present year and use this for new photos. At...

How to access the full database without using Photo Supreme?

One of the selling points of Photo Supreme is that it is open architecture, e.g. from the web site: "The IDimager database is an open architecture that can be exported to a file that can then be imported into another DAM.... After all, it is YOUR data, not the application’s data." or form the Forum ...

Re: Version 1 and speed

Thanks, this is a great case for comparison once v2 is available; maybe you can also share details about your configuration (CPU, internal memory, SSD or HDD, ...) With respect to the timings, I have an IMAC with a 2.93 GHz core i7 (4 core) with 12GB memory and a regular hard drive, not SSD. Select...

Re: Version 1 and speed

Initial searches on first loading the program can be slower, but once the program "warms up" (loads the thumb database into memory?) I find the time for searching on a single catalog label is 9 secs for a search that returns the whole catalog (30,000 images), 7 secs for one returning 20,000 images, ...

Re: Version 2 and speedup

The single user version of Cumulus was about $50 when it was called Mediadex, and then the upgrade to Cumulus Single User when Canto took it back in house was about $200. But I agree, I would much rather use Photo Supreme than spend thousands of dollars upgrading to the full version of Cumulus :). I...

Version 1 and speed

I'm looking forward to trying Version 2 since the pre-announcement includes increased speed as one of the features. I've just finished loading my catalog of 30,000 photos into Photo Supreme (version 1, of course), and find the program to be a little too slow to be pleasant to use, with most operatio...

Re: Duplicate catalog structure

I did try removing all the images from a (large) catalog, but no matter how many times I used "Clean up Unused Thumbs and Previews" and "Compact Database" the cat.db file was still 178MB in size, which didn't seem like a good starting point.

I just saw that this was a feature of v2. It will certainly make it much easier.

Duplicate catalog structure

is there a good way of creating an empty catalog that duplicates the structure of an existing one, in particular with the same Catalog Labels? Using the Export to and Import From Formatted Vocabulary File leads to the label structure appearing under a top level label "Vocabulary ..." with ... the na...

Re: Import kewords from text file

I'm not an ACDsee user either :) That was the only script I could find that imported from a text file, and I was going to figure out the details of the format once the script ran! The script does now run, but doesn't update the records. My guess at the descript.ion format for the filename and some k...
