Re: A first comparison of PSU and LR4

Hi Frank, I mainly use the following software: - PSU for Digital Asset Management - Picture Window Pro (raster editor) - Fast Picture Viewer for culling/rating images AFTER the ingestion phase - occasionally Photomatix, for tone mapping Since I work both on film and digital, I use two distinct workf...

Re: A first comparison of PSU and LR4

Tom, thank you for your clarification, which I find very useful. I looked a bit more into how these two DAMs manage metadata and I summarize here my findings. Both platforms cover a very large set of XMP metadata, which can be easily accessed in a panel on the right ('Details' in PSU, 'Metadata' in ...

A first comparison of PSU and LR4

I am carrying on some tests on PSU and LR4 . Actually, I have my photo archive on both platforms and I can manage quite well keeping metadata aligned (but not version sets, unfortunately. I know I will have to decide in a few months which DAM better fits my workflow, but in the meantime I would like...

Ok, I just opened a feature request in Mantis.
In the meantime I'll live without it.
Thanks,

Re: Jumping from CATALOG to FOLDERS view

Hello, thanks for your quick reply, however this does not solve my issue, unfortunately. Importing a single file requires browsing the file system to select the file I want to import . This is what I intend to avoid. Why should I navigate the file system when I already have in the light-table the or...

Jumping from CATALOG to FOLDERS view

Hello, I try to navigate my images using the Catalog whenever possible. This is the big advantage of using a DAM rather than an image browser. However, in one case I need to switch back to the Folders view: when I edit an image with a raster editor and need to import the new image in PSU. My externa...

rename script - Help!

Hello, in order to make a batch rename of a large set of images, I'm building my custom batch command. I saw that it is possible to embed a script into the file names rules Capture.JPG This is one of the great advantages of PSU over its competitors. So I put my own script in %code, in order to extra...

Re: Create catalog labels from folder names

By mistake I had tried the "File Name to Catalog Label" instead of "Folder Name to Catalog Label". The script works fine! Just need to comment out //Progress.UseProgress; I also added the line: APath.Insert(0, 'STORAGE'); after APath.Delete(0); in order to create a "root" label 'STORAGE' in the cata...

Re: Create catalog labels from folder names

Just tried the script.
An error occurs on line 43: "Unknown member identifier: "Use Progress".
Commenting this line the script runs till completion (a message "finished" is shown), but nothing seems to happen in the catalog.

Create catalog labels from folder names

Hello, I find the import option "Create catalog labels from folder names" very useful in my workflow. However, it would be great if I could do this whenever needed (e.g. after modifying the folder/file structure) and not just at import time. I remember on IDImager there was a FolderToLabel script. I...

Re: A few questions about metadata handling in PSU

Thank you for clarifying all! 4. When setting custom thumbnail information, e.g. when I write exif:UserComment, where this information is read from ? From file or from catalog? The %exif macros show you Exif, like the name says... Exif is read from the file. Just another question: do the %xmp macros...

A few questions about metadata handling in PSU

Hello, I have a few questions about metadata handling. Maybe I could find the answers with some tests, however I think it could be useful if this could be clarified in the forum. So lets's start: 1. The "Details" panel is showing metadata which are read from files or from the catalog ? 2. In "Image ...
