Re: launch exiftoolGUI from within PSU

BUT that is not my problem. The problem is calling it from within PSu. Understood. But - launching it from within PSU I get an error "Failed to execute: 740 (0)"... Confirmed ... and it is because of the elevated Admin privileges. I elevated one of my other external applications and received the sa...

Re: launch exiftoolGUI from within PSU

I don't have ExifToolGui as an external application to PSU, but have run into similar issues when running ExifToolGui on Windows 10.

Are you running the latest version of ExifTool?

Where is ExifTool.exe located? In the ExifToolGui folder or C:\WINDOWS?

Re: Dynamic collection by month

If your Write settings are enabled to write changes when changes are made to the metadata, the answer is yes. Custom fields are XMP fields. I have two custom fields that contain "duplicate" info, but it makes the process easier. In my workflow, I use a macro directly in a field on the Details panel....

Re: Dynamic collection by month

Another way is you can enter the macro directly in the field on the Details panel. Select photos, enter macro, click on the OK button.

Re: Dynamic collection by month

You can add it to a profile. Open the Design panel. In the upper left of panel is a Profiles drop down box where you can see your existing profiles and you can create new ones. You can apply the profile during import or after. When applying after: select photos, choose profile, click on the OK butto...

Re: Dynamic collection by month

The following will place a custom field (which contains a date) under the "Your Custom Fields" section of Details, which will be visible in the Catalog (left side) and the Details panel (right side). Go to the Info panel. Click on New Custom Field. Choose Add My Own Field. Give it a name. (I chose P...

Re: Dynamic collection by month

You can add a macro to the Custom Thumb Info feature, so the month or date is always present (I have done this in the past):

Re: Dynamic collection by month

I've tried to work a little further, but have a problem: - like in the video from v3 to custom fields I've made a custom field named "Month" and have the %mmmm in it to show -> this works for the info-panel - now I thought that I will have the custom field in the details section, but there isn't an...

It works in the favorites. Is there a way to get it from the favorites to portfolios or the timeline?
Your favorites are available via the drop-down filter button:

Set up the Dynamic Search first with (red or yellow). Then add city. Then jpg. The QuickStart-Searching.pdf contains an example on how to group/join fields before adding additional fields. Then use the Macro to search for doesn't equal yes in your custom field. I haven't thoroughly tested V4 to see ...

In case the Advanced metadata template for the Details panel (right hand side) is not currently displayed, start here: Open the Details panel by clicking on the Details button in the lower right. At the top of the panel, you will see a Profiles drop-down button on the left and a hamburger (or menu o...

Re: Way to Store Data Other Than XMP?

Another way is to export the metadata team members would typically use to search for images.

To export: right click on images, Metadata, Export Metadata to CSV File. Choose the metadata. The first column automatically contains the path and file name.

Open the CSV file in a spreadsheet program.
