In my case the date is part of my file naming convention, so I rarely need to look at anything other than the file name.
I started doing this a couple of years ago. For me, I should have done it from the start.

Re: Controlling the Timeline from Media Pro

One last piece of data to add to this issue. Why does PSu change the CreateDate and the ModifyDate of the files when it syncs them. In finder, the dates for all the files that I am updating with metadata are having BOTH of those dates change. I am just so incredibly confused about what the heck is ...

Re: Multicore support for batch processing

If this was my computer, I would run tests without the ram disk and see what happens. In my experience if memory usage is above 70%, everything slows down significantly ... and to the point where the computer is unresponsive.

Re: Versioning

I no longer use versioning. However, after I saw your initial post, I tried a few things (which you had (probably) already tried). Variations of the %yyyy%mm%dd and %xmp:exif:DateTimeOriginal. None worked. Then I tried %xmp:exif:FocalLength. That didn't work. I believe I tried a few more. And I didn...

Re: Multicore support for batch processing

I tested on Windows 7. 10 year old computer. 12GB of memory. Photos on a spinning disk. Write to an SSD. Used your batch. RAW to JPG. Granted I only tried it on six RAW files. All six at once ... CPU never got above 15%, memory didn't really increase, and finished without a problem. Running two batc...

Re: Multicore support for batch processing

Are you using windows or mac? Are the images local or on a NAS or ...? Are you trying to save the images locally? What are the specific batch instructions?

Re: New User - Managing Metadata

Is there any way to make this happen, or am I missing something important? There are a couple of ways to do this (maybe more). If you are using versions, destroy the version set and you will be able to save metadata to only the jpg file. If you aren't using versions, you can copy and paste the labe...

Re: New User - Managing Metadata

Is there any benefit to maintaining two separate catalogs for the two kinds of images (and use different settings for each)? In my view, yes. I have multiple catalogs/databases. Photo Supreme provides Command Line Startup Parameters, so one can have multiple catalogs/databases, each with their own ...

Re: Facial recognition: a new option

All from Hert: Verify Folder will do a full scan of the folder that you start this command for. That includes binary file checking, new files, new folders. https://forum.idimager.com/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=27604&p=122070#p122070 "Verify Folder" is a bi-directional sync. PSU compares every folder/file ...

Re: Facial recognition: a new option

In connection with this thread, is there a function or script that can identify changed files and then re-read the metadata ? Not sure if the PSU database holds a "last read/write" DateTime to compare with a files "Last modified" date ? As this would make re-reading the changed files from TTP so mu...

Re: Help with script that imports metadata from csv file

See if this works ... I was using metapad (but you can use Notepad, ...) ... Open your favorite text editor. Copy the cells from your Excel file and paste into your text editor. You may have to enter the comma between the fields. Save as a csv. Give it a new file name than the Excel one. Make sure i...

Re: Help with script that imports metadata from csv file

I installed 4.3.4.2141 (64 bit). The script worked. My csv file has headers: Something, Narrative "E:\...\_85F8362.jpg", "place into Description" I tried without headers and it worked. In either case make sure the "First line holds ..." is enabled or disabled, depending on the csv file. After choosi...

Re: Help with script that imports metadata from csv file

I have used this script in the past. I just tried it. After a few tries/reminders ... My first field is the path to the file and file name in quotes: "E:\......\picture.jpg" My second field is in quotes, because it is more than one word: "place this into Description" It worked. I am using this versi...

Re: 'Copy' data from custom field to label

Before testing as per your suggestion, I'm wondering how I will be able find all files with a custom field populated? Go to Catalog - By Image Details. Expand Your Custom Fields. Expand each field to review the data. catalog_by_image_details.PNG Presumably I would have to repeat that process for al...

Re: ImportDialog EventName is not working properly

I tested this, again, today. I chose a file name based on Event Name. I looked at the Custom defined to see if Event Name was %EventName or T EventName. It was T EventName. So, choosing one of the defaults that includes Event Name, creates T EventName. I can't help but think this needs to be enabled...
