Re: how to copy path and filename

This may not be as quick as you would like, but it does work.

Go to the Info panel, create a Custom Field - Add Macro Field. Add the fields you want.

My Macro Text looks like this:

Code: Select all

%FilePath\%FileName
When you want to copy, make sure you choose Select All, then Copy.

After your step 4, where you verify, would a Control-R (Reload) re-order the files?

Re: Adding portfolio to custom field

Thank you. I like the idea of the SmugMug custom field. Out of curiosity, can PSu custom fields be read by other software? I know some only read main IPTC fields, etc but a couple utilities I have will read all fields. ExifTool can read them. They display in the ExifToolGUI. I haven't jumped on the...

Re: some Custom Thumb Info no longer working

I don't think the actual html tags are written as XMP content to the metadata of the images, though. At least I cannot see these tags in ExifTool. Correct. I have not found them written as XMP to the metadata. Here is another test. Different images. I take one image. I use Hert's custom thumbnail s...

Re: some Custom Thumb Info no longer working

A test. I enabled the Darwin Core in Details. On two images, I entered data. Clicked on OK. Deleted the data. Clicked on OK. Repeated. Was trying to see if any of my changes to the custom thumb script impacted the display. The one thing I noticed: the URLs. I highlighted the two images I was using a...

Is there a good reference to the syntax (like you applied above).
Under Help. The "Quick Manual - Macro Commands".

I am terrible at coding, so what business do I have responding? None.

Maybe this is helpful (or not):

Maybe it helps if you then also configure PSU to be ran as administrator.
That works.

Re: launch exiftoolGUI from within PSU

BUT that is not my problem. The problem is calling it from within PSu. Understood. But - launching it from within PSU I get an error "Failed to execute: 740 (0)"... Confirmed ... and it is because of the elevated Admin privileges. I elevated one of my other external applications and received the sa...

Re: launch exiftoolGUI from within PSU

I don't have ExifToolGui as an external application to PSU, but have run into similar issues when running ExifToolGui on Windows 10.

Are you running the latest version of ExifTool?

Where is ExifTool.exe located? In the ExifToolGui folder or C:\WINDOWS?

Re: Dynamic collection by month

If your Write settings are enabled to write changes when changes are made to the metadata, the answer is yes. Custom fields are XMP fields. I have two custom fields that contain "duplicate" info, but it makes the process easier. In my workflow, I use a macro directly in a field on the Details panel....

Re: Dynamic collection by month

Another way is you can enter the macro directly in the field on the Details panel. Select photos, enter macro, click on the OK button.
