Question about ingesting

(Importing in PSU terminology) I currently use Photo Mechanic for ingesting RAWs from camera. I'm investigating whether I can use PSU instead. So far the answer seems to be 'mostly YES' except for one thing: In cases where I have fired a burst of shots I will often go through the burst at 100% to ch...

Re: Write Portfolio info to images

Did I miss the release of this fix ? The current build is .2060 which I'm pretty sure was the version I was using when I started this thread. I wonder if Hert could give an idea of when this fix will be released ?

Thanks,
Steve

Re: Write Portfolio info to images

My findings with version 3.0.2.2060 - Hert is correct about the ICS not being enabled by default. (Of course he is - he should know. I was mistaken) - Created c:\test and put a bunch of test images in it. - Created a new database, re-opened PSU, checked ICS read and write. - Imported the photos, ass...

Re: Write Portfolio info to images

I did check that before doing the import Hert. In fact it appears that a new database has those options enabled by default.

Write Portfolio info to images

Hi, I have a large set of historical family images which are arranged using Portfolio Collections. I want to ensure that this information is saved in the image files in case I one day need to rebuild my catalog database. I can't make PSU work the way I expect it should and I'm wondering if someone c...

Re: RAW-convertors (Nikon Capture NX2 replacement)

Hi Peter,

FWIW, I went from CNX2 to Photo Ninja, and couldn't be happier with the results I am getting from my D7100 files. A solid step forward in IQ, IMO.

Cheers,
Steve

Re: PSUv3 is slow when the database is stored on a NAS

Just a thought. If you want to put the DB on the NAS then you might want to consider the PostgreSQL Server version of PSU. Depending on the NAS, you may find that you can install PostgreSQL on it (e.g. my QNAP supports the installation of all sorts of cool extras). That would give you multi-user, mu...

Re: PS3, PhotoNinja and license question

While I haven't yet tried it, I'd like to thank Hert for implementing this so promptly. I am a PSU + PN user so I greatly appreciate the improvements this will make to my workflow.

Re: Preannouncement: Photo Supreme V3

I've switched off auto-update because of the following scenario (I may be doing this wrong): User receives the auto-update prompt, installs the update, performs the database upgrade when prompted, and is happy. Next user comes along and can't even log into PSU because the software on his machine doe...

Re: Preannouncement: Photo Supreme V3

Yes it's possible to do with Group Policy IF you are running Windows Pro machines in an AD domain. But that wouldn't necessarily be the case at all sites. The sort of thing I have seen with other products is where the client checks in a network location e.g. the server for an updated installer and o...

Re: Preannouncement: Photo Supreme V3

I've never put this in Mantis, but currently the SQL version is awkward to administer because each workstation needs to be updated manually otherwise users on old versions get 'database updated' issues. Has any thought been given to this in Ver 3 ?
