You can manually copy over the photosupreme.cat.db and photosupreme.thumbs.db files from the backup to the catalog folder.

For AI files, PSU asks the Operating System to generate thumbnails.

Do you get thumbnails in macOS Finder for these files?

Did you check if there's perhaps a filter active that leads to no results?

If not then can you let me know how long the database conversion took for the 7.3 update? Was that seconds, minutes, or hours?

Could be that there's an active filter that filters out the results?
Make sure that the Filter Bar is not active and that there's no Catalog Filter active

Please share the catalog database. Only the cat.db is needed, not the thumbs.db.

In Photo Supreme 7.3 the speed in the Details section is improved. The latest build today is 7.3.0.4459. If you are a V7 user then best to upgrade to the latest build.

3200 is the old recommended setting for your monitor resolution. In V5 that mattered. Since V6 (and now in V7), the recommended size is 1440, regardless the monitor resolution. V7 users use the Cascade feature in the application. Find it in the version thumb's mini hamburger menu for version thumbnails.

Re-import the metadata (Ctrl+Alt+S or Cmd+Opt+S) to get the metadata updated in the catalog.

Very similar results to the above, the final size of the cat.db has reduced from previous backups, with 322K images it took around 40 Hours total. That depends on what version you come from.
