Re: PS server is not responsive on OSX

My first thought is to upgrade your progresql version to v16. And of course also keep Psu up to date

Re: Advise on XMP rules

For PSU it doesn't matter. But for interoperability with other software it will matter. For TIF files, software should check if there's embedded XMP data inside the file. You should never expect any software to check for a XMP sidecar file for TIF files (though they may, or offer an option such as i...

Re: sporadic unresponsive issues

If your NAS (which is a typical device in Windows to show such delays) gives delays then the OS has to wait and PSU has to wait for the OS. Try if you also get delays when you dismount the shares to the NAS in Windows. Or switch PSU to "offline" mode, a mode where it won't interact with th...

Congrats with the new laptop.
To move Photo Supreme to the new machine, follow the instructions for "Migrating to a new computer" from the Maintenance manual (page 8).

This is in PSU v2024 build 6576.

In PSU v2023 you can use the joker character:

Code: Select all

Re: sporadic unresponsive issues

If you experience random "delays" then that typically points to the OS trying to reach disks. For instance, if your photo files are stored on a drive which goes into some "energy saving state" and then access to the drive is needed the the OS (Windows/macOS) needs to access the d...

Re: Search Box inconsistent findings

I dove into this a bit further. The Search Bar searches in leaf folder names where the image is stored in. In your case that is 104_V419 Search for 104_v419 and you should find the image. 104_v419 If you still need to search on a parent folder then you'll need to use a joker character which makes th...

A warm welcome to the forum.

Check if the file exists on the file system. Could be that the volume is not mounted.

Re: JPG Thumbnails terrible colour

Apparently your jpg is created with a specific color profile (ProPhoto maybe). Thumbs by default are built without color management. You can switch that ON in the Preferences (Color Management tab). After that manually rebuild the thumbs (right click->Operations->Rebuild selected thumbnails) to have...

Re: Tips for working with Photo Supreme

Of course, if you are a hardcore Photo Supreme user, you know that there will not be any differences between the catalog and the file as Photo Supreme takes care of that. However, if for some reason you do end up with unexplainable differences between the file and what is in the catalog, then this m...

Re: Tips for working with Photo Supreme

Here's a way to see all technical details for all specific photos that meet a condition. In this example I want to see all different Focal Lengths for one specific folder (the Condition). The condition could be anything, eg all photos from a year, a catalog label, a category, a portfolio, a collecti...

Re: Image orientation / person in the image

Thinking about this further, the rotation buttons could work better for non-saveable file formats (such as RAW files). Currently PSU always creates a recipe item for such file formats when clicking the thumb rotation buttons...but it would be more transparent when RAW files get their orientation tag...

Re: Catalog filter by Folders anybody else with this problem?

First of all, I am happy seeing that the Catalog Filter is being used. I think it is one of the most helpful features when you need to work on a subset of images.

You can always use the + icon in the Catalog Filter panel to add an element that is outside of the filter condition.
