That is how scaling works. UI controls are scaled but images display at the monitor resolution. You want your images to display as sharp as possible. An 8K image will not become fuzzy when viewed at 100% due to double scaling. If you have 5120 pixel then they are also used to display images as sharp...

DateTimeOriginal contains date as well as time. Finding duplicates with exact date and time will not typically work. You could try the mask:
%yyyy%mm%dd

That will match on the day only.

You don't have to wipe your new drive (unless you think there are missing image files)

Keep the new drive attached:
1. Restore you backup
2. Start PSU
3. Map to the correct physical drive (the new drive)

In Timeline, select 1899. Then select all thumbnails, right click and select Metadata -> Read from File
