Re: Reasons for using the Import Module?

Our workflow spends significant time on PCs doing ruthless culling, precise naming and RAW processing. This is all done so we can import the cleanest 'collection' into the PSU photo library (GIGO). Gordon, so - to clarify - you do all this before importing? What tools do you use for this if you don...

Re: Reasons for using the Import Module?

I also use the importer - it provides important functions for me like making safety copies, naming to my standards, putting in folders to my preferences, and initial labelling (which assists me later on in processing). And it means I do all this in one step, which is very convenient. It's a very goo...

Re: on my w7 5.4.1.3856 slow start and crash

Without wishing to hijack the topic - Hert, I run on W7. Still on PSU v4, I have a licence for v5 but haven't upgraded yet. Your statement is making me a little nervous about doing so. Is anyone else running the latest version on W7 and is it ok? Thanks

Re: stuck in full screen mode ,is it a bug or my os?

Hi mantras, I'm on W7 but not the latest version I'm afraid, I'm still on ps4. F11 works fine for me, toggles full screen on and off ok. Silly question (again!) but I'm assuming F11 works fine for you on other software (browsers etc). Just ruling out a physical key malfunction or one of those odd BI...

Re: stuck in full screen mode ,is it a bug or my os?

Just checking - is this "full screen" (as in what F11 does, removing the blue header at the top and the windows toolbar at the bottom), or is it "view->maximise" (as in making the tabbed thumbnail pane fill the screen, as opposed to "view->embedded")

Re: Batch move files to specific folders?

That sounds a bit painful, sorry if my advice has caused you this hassle. This almost sounds like a bug - not the behaviour I'd expect unless I'm missing something (well past my bedtime so I probably am!) - hopefully Hert will be along and can advise. Off topic but I hope everyone on the forum is sa...

Re: Batch move files to specific folders?

IIRC the import consists of two parts: one is importing into the catalog, which you have already done, this is the bottom half of the screen. The other is "copy images to new location", at the top half. (I'm still on v4 so presuming it's still like this on v5). Each can be toggled independently of t...

Re: No Updates Available?

Just a quick answer pending Hert giving an official one: sometimes fixes, especially those for specific issues where the fix requires proving by the affected user, are made available for downloading from the web page but not notified via the app. They are released via the app in due course (sometime...

Re: PSU hung after importing photos

This is unlikely to have any bearing on your case but perhaps worth mentioning just in case: in some circumstances PSU can report the wrong disk in error messages. But this related to the mirror disk, and to it being offline rather than full. https://mantis.idimager.com/view.php?id=3365

Re: Stripping out metadata

I also find geosetter quite useful for editing/stripping the metadata, it also acts as a GUI front-end to exiftool.

Have a category workflow status similar to the folder workflow status; similarly for timeline

I was originally going to raise this as a Mantis for discussion but then realised it would be better to raise here initially to garner views, input and ideas. I have a number of distinct steps in my workflow (as most structured workflows probably do). These steps include for example: labelling-peopl...
