Re: How to use the Import Module

First of all it's worth noting that you can use either the import wizard or the full import window. You can set which to use in settings>general. If you are unfamilar I would simply start with the wizard and get into the more complex options later. Edited to add: You invoke the importer from the "ha...

Re: what's the deal with a strike-through, greyed-out folder?

Thanks Hert, that's useful. It's an odd situation as the images are in the catalog but of course that folder (and subfolders) is ignored so the images are not always visible. Given what you have said I think the way I'll go is to remove the folder from the catalog. I'll probably then re-locate it co...

Re: what's the deal with a strike-through, greyed-out folder?

My other half managed to import to the catalog the contents of an ignored folder (the folder contained the mirror copies from previous imports). No idea how she managed it. It's all quite a mess now :-( Strangely I can't even find how to set a folder to be ignored now! I don't see this option in the...

Re: What do you use your color labels for?

Good question. Because they are rapid, one-key, to assign they are an essential part of my workflow. I use one colour to indicate which are portfolio candidates - which is to say they make the first cut - an initial cull. Then I go back and then select the best of these (especially where I hava a nu...

Re: Image editing in PSU??

That's odd that you don't see anything at all with auto effects. For me, when I click on one of the three sub-buttons the following happens: - the text for that button turns blue indicating the effect is "on"; - the change is visible in the image (though sometimes not or very little, if the algorith...

It would be a great facility for non-digital/historic images scanned in for which an exact date is unavailable.

Re: De-licensed

The license file has to be in the correct folder. If you do a search on this forum you will find this answered (I think it's in one the help files as well though I could be wrong).

Re: Image editing in PSU??

I use it - the vast majority of my edits are simple ones, typically just cropping and tweaks to exposure. PSU is ideal for these, plus it's great that the edits are virtual. Yes auto-adjust does do something! You should be able to see the effect by clicking on each of the three sub-buttons to toggle...

Re: Reasons for using the Import Module?

Our workflow spends significant time on PCs doing ruthless culling, precise naming and RAW processing. This is all done so we can import the cleanest 'collection' into the PSU photo library (GIGO). Gordon, so - to clarify - you do all this before importing? What tools do you use for this if you don...

Re: Reasons for using the Import Module?

I also use the importer - it provides important functions for me like making safety copies, naming to my standards, putting in folders to my preferences, and initial labelling (which assists me later on in processing). And it means I do all this in one step, which is very convenient. It's a very goo...

Re: on my w7 5.4.1.3856 slow start and crash

Without wishing to hijack the topic - Hert, I run on W7. Still on PSU v4, I have a licence for v5 but haven't upgraded yet. Your statement is making me a little nervous about doing so. Is anyone else running the latest version on W7 and is it ok? Thanks

Re: stuck in full screen mode ,is it a bug or my os?

Hi mantras, I'm on W7 but not the latest version I'm afraid, I'm still on ps4. F11 works fine for me, toggles full screen on and off ok. Silly question (again!) but I'm assuming F11 works fine for you on other software (browsers etc). Just ruling out a physical key malfunction or one of those odd BI...

Re: stuck in full screen mode ,is it a bug or my os?

Just checking - is this "full screen" (as in what F11 does, removing the blue header at the top and the windows toolbar at the bottom), or is it "view->maximise" (as in making the tabbed thumbnail pane fill the screen, as opposed to "view->embedded")
