Re: rotated raw files not displayed correctly in photo editors

Again thanks so much for clarifying that JPG rotation and RAW rotation work differently: RAW = PSu only virtually rotates files inside PSU, rotation not picked up by external editors. JPG = PSu physically rotates the pixels, although lossless, thus updating the orientation also for external editors....

Re: Default settings for labels - and auto update parents

I do not like the option to always assign the parent and thus prefer the default as it is right now. But for some categories that have labels/keywords that are exclusive I would very much like to be able to set the default to "unassigned labels with the same parent". A thing cannot be black and whit...

Re: rotated raw files not displayed correctly in photo editors

I’m just telling you that a recipe is created when rotating. Open the file in Adjust mode in Psu and you’ll see the recipe marker. Why the jpg opens correctly in Photoshop? I don’t know. OK , thanks for clarifying - I see the reason now: PhotoSupreme rotates raw files and JPGs differently. Rotating...

Re: rotated raw files not displayed correctly in photo editors

Dear Hert, thanks so much for getting back on this and I apologize for the back and forth. Consuming lots of your time, I know. I should have sent those files earlier. So, thank you for attending to this. Unfortunately, I am still confused by your response: You suggest that PhotoSupreme uses interna...

Re: rotated raw files not displayed correctly in photo editors

This is after rotating in PSu... The original file is captured upside-down on the macro table, imported into PSu and then rotated. Frank PS: Since today, whenever I want to access or post anything on the forum here I am constantly asked to log back in again (despite having the option checked to reme...

Re: rotated raw files not displayed correctly in photo editors

Dear Hert, sorry, my intention was not to shout, but to emphasize . I will use Italics next time... Again, I have only rotated the images inside PhotoSupreme, not with any external tool. The JPGs rotate correctly, the NEFs and DNGs don't. How can I compare the Exif Tag with the XMP Tag? I have just ...

Re: rotated raw files not displayed correctly in photo editors

You stated that you rotate in a third party tool. Back in psu you should use the convert metadata to XMP. NO !! I did not rotate outside PSU, that is my whole point !!! I rotated INSIDE PSU and when opening in external editor the images are all wrong. After import I always rotate the images manuall...

Re: rotated raw files not displayed correctly in photo editors

It doesn't fix the mess that PhotoSupreme made !!! Sorry - but I tried to explain: I rotate a DNG in Photo Supreme and open it in Photoshop, Affinity, or PhotoLab. They ALL open the file upside-down despite PhotoSupreme showing that file at the correct orientation (after having it rotated inside Pho...

Re: cannot compact - database locked?

Thanks for clarifying. This makes sense. I think the problem might be that there are two competing processes when starting PhotoSupreme. When I start the program I can see a background process start called "Ingest List". At the same time the "Compact Now" pops up. If I click "Compact Now" the "Inges...

Re: rotated raw files not displayed correctly in photo editors

(1) I open the images in Photoshop/Affinity/PhotoLab, all upside-down, here: NEF_Photoshop_upside-down.jpg NEF_PhotoLab_upside-down.jpg NEF_Affinity_upside-down.jpg (2) I develop the images in Photoshop/Affinity/PhotoLab (including rotating the images), save them as new JPG with the suffix "_print" ...

Re: rotated raw files not displayed correctly in photo editors

Hhhm - I really don't think this is a PhotoLab error, because it also happens in Photoshop and Affinity Photo. It seems very unlikely to me that all three software products from different vendors ignore the XMP rotation tags. And curiously enough it only affects the RAW files - not the DNGs !!! Agai...

cannot compact - database locked?

Hi,
upon restarting PSu, I was just told to compact.
So, I clicked OK and then get a message that the database cannot be compacted, because it is locked???
After another restart, compacting works.
What causes this?
Thanks for clarifying,
Frank
