Re: V4.1 64bit for Mac

Hi henry, I believe there might be a few things getting mixed up here: namely d"isplay of raw file adjustments by foreign editors" within PSu and accurate interpretation of color profiles within the application itself. PSU should either generate its own previews or take them from the underlying OS. ...

Re: Headline, Title, Event XMP fields and their correlation, use in PSU

PS: one thing I forgot - remember that there may be privacy issues involved, if you are sharing photos with anyone. Not every family member, friend, or customer might be entirely happy if you share images of them that are face-tagged...

Re: Headline, Title, Event XMP fields and their correlation, use in PSU

What is the real life use of face detection/face area tagging? I guess the idea is to easily see, how the names of a person or a particular subject relate to a person/object in an image. So, you wouldn't want to tag every chair in your images, but if you are in the furniture business and are creati...

Re: Headline, Title, Event XMP fields and their correlation, use in PSU

FYI - only three default label categories will affect your XMP metadata in PSU: Names in the category "people" will be written into "IPTC4xmpExt:PersonInImage". Place names: if in "Preferences - Sync Settings - Read - Geo Location processing" is enabled, then entering data into the Geo-Panel will se...

Re: Headline, Title, Event XMP fields and their correlation, use in PSU

You have catalog panel "People::Photographers::John Doe". Sorry to disagree here! I used to have all my photographers under PSu's catagory People, but that was a big mistake! As you suggest, PSU automatically writes all People entries into the "IPTC4xmpExt:PersonInImage". Well, the photographer is ...

Re: All NEF's are black after writing metadata with 4.1.

It is not a good idea to write metadata into raw files (except DNGs). I would disable that option.

Re: Why Photo Supreme isn't 'ready-for-prime-time' [OPINION]

Dear Henry (sorry I called you Harry, I fixed that ;-), we have an expression in German called "eierlegende Wollmilchsau", which translates into something like "a pig that gives milk and wool and can lay eggs as well". I agree that in a perfect world there would be just one such perfect product that...

Re: Why Photo Supreme isn't 'ready-for-prime-time' [OPINION]

Dear Henry, I believe your review is biased. You expect this cataloging software to outperform in tasks that it never was designed for. PhotoSupreme has never been intended to be a Lightroom competitor and it does not claim to be! Lightroom is primarily a raw-editor with some (very) basic cataloging...

Re: fuzzy font

Any update on this? Of course it is great that now high-resolution monitors are supported, but less so if that means PSu looks crappy on a low res monitor. I cannot really afford to buy a new monitor just because PSu now supports them. besides, the EIZO that I have is really a great monitor covering...

Re: launch exiftoolGUI from within PSU

FWIW, I'm running Windows 10 Home and PSU 4 and I have a shortcut to ExifToolGUI in PSU that I put there long ago (in a previous version of PSU) but haven't used in ages. I tried it just now and it worked flawlessly. I'm using version 3.38 of ExifToolGUI and version 9.75 of ExifTool. Well, I am run...

Re: launch exiftoolGUI from within PSU

Are you running the latest version of ExifTool? Yes. Where is ExifTool.exe located? In the ExifToolGui folder or C:\WINDOWS? C:\ExifTool\ It works perfect on Windows, if the option to always run it as administrator is enabled or if the shortcut is configured to run it as administrator. BUT that is ...

Re: launch exiftoolGUI from within PSU

PS: I know that under Compatibility there is an option to run any program per default as an administrator. Unfortunately, when I enable that option, Windows comes up with a prompt still asking me every time if I really want to do it. Yes, of course, else I would not have configured it that way (dooo...

launch exiftoolGUI from within PSU

Hi all, this is only indirectly related to PSU, but I thought I still ask the question. Perhaps someone has an answer... For years I have been using ExifToolGUI. It was extremely convenient to launch the tool directly from within PSU just by adding it as an external application. For some reason sinc...

fuzzy font

Dear Hert, this is not really a bug, so I am not sure if to report it in Mantis. Still, it is increasingly "bugging" me (pun intended ): I love the new version 4 interface, much cleaner! Unfortunately it seems that the rendering of fonts works somewhat different, which is especially noticea...
