Database disk image is malformed (0)

Hello,

I've read what I found regarding malformed database issue and tried a restore of a relatively recent database backup. The same popup populated indicating a database disk image malformation, but it dead-ended there and wouldn't restore. What's next?

Re: PS won't open

Ok, I renamed the thumbs database and PSU still wouldn't open. So, to restore the backup, since PSU won't open at all, I'm assuming that I need to uninstall PSU and delete the both databases, then download and install PSU again and restore the backup. Is that the best procedure?

Re: PS won't open

I'm still unable to open my PS program, as I'm not sure how to use the SQLite to run the "delete" query as mentioned above. First, is the corruption likely to be in both the catalogue and thumbs databases, or just one of them? The catalogue database is small and maybe I could email it to someone who...

Re: PS won't open

Ok, I downloaded SQLite Expert Professional on a 30-day trial basis, and I was able to access the IDimager databases using the SQL program, but then I was lost and didn't know how to apply the above mentioned query. It looks like a relatively big learning curve to know how to use the SQL program. Ca...

PS won't open

Hi, I was using PS, left it open while I did something else, and when I came back it seemed frozen, so I rebooted. When I rebooted, PS wouldn't open. I got the 'code 740', with the added message that 'the requested operation requires elevation'. I've followed all instructions (here and elsewhere) re...

Black Thumbnails after restore on new computer

Hi, After restoring my catalogue and thumb backups to my new computer, the thumbs remain black. I had backed up the catalogue and thumbs in a single backup and restored both the catalogue and thumbs from that backup file. I matched the restored catalogue with the new location of the source files, an...

Thanks Mike. The restore process went smoothly. Even the favorites seemed to be ok. Again, thanks for your quick responses.

Re: Rieck's Controlled Vocab & New PS install

Thanks so much, Mike, for the quick response. It appears I'm on the correct path. However, a follow-up question is: 1. Should I restore the backup first and then import the photos from the current location to PS, or the other way around, import the photos to PS from the current location, and then re...

Rieck's Controlled Vocab & New PS install

Hi, I recently purchased a new laptop and am making it my principal computer. I have reinstalled PS. Three questions: 1. I did back up catalog and thumb in one backup. I presume I can restore both to the new installation using the "restore PS data". Is this correct? 2. I was also using Rieck's Contr...

New Computer--procedures for moving files

Hi, I'm in the process of setting up a new computer and want to make sure I follow proper procedures. My current setup is a desktop that has both the photo supreme program on it as well as all the files. My new setup will have photo supreme on a new laptop and the files on an external drive. What pr...

Tiff Redate Issues

I scanned old photos to tif format, then later converted them to jpgs. The jpgs redate without problems, but many of the tifs will not redate. I have tried redating using Ctrl + Shift + D and also from within the Details panel. The date I have been trying to change is the Date-Time Original. Attache...

Re: Similar Images Reappear after versioning

I have over 3,500 tiffs that were converted to jpegs using PS then were versioned as subversions of the original tiffs. Those that were subversioned before PS 3 are not being reported as "Similar". However, any photos that are versioned now, using PS 3, are being reported as similar, both before and...

Similar Images Reappear after versioning

I've found the "similar images" category under "By Catalog State" to be very helpful in finding my duplicates. It has also been very helpful in finding the Jpeg conversions of my photos that were scanned to Tiffs and converted to Jpegs, but that had not yet been versioned. However, upon versioning t...

Scanned Tiffs won't redate with PS v3

My old photos were scanned to tiffs. I had no problem re-dating the photos before updating to PS v3 (currently 3.0.2.2060 64 bits). However, using the current version of PS, the dates won't change. I've tried both Shift-Ctrl-D approach as well as trying to make changes using the details panel. I hav...
