Photo Supreme 7.3
Photo Supreme 7.3
Photo Supreme 7.3.0.4438 was just released on the website and Control Panel
This update includes a full technical redesign of the search data implementation which brings faster response times in the Details section.
The SQLServer version no longer needs the frequent database pruning making that version more responsive overall.
Note: There is a database upgrade and the database upgrade will take a while to complete.

The conversion took four and an halve hour in my case!!! Not sure if this is normal?Hert wrote: 20 Jul 22 9:06 Note: There is a database upgrade and the database upgrade will take a while to complete.
Re: Photo Supreme 7.3
Depending on the catalog size that is normal. That’s why I stated that it takes a while to complete.
Don’t forget to compact.

Re: Photo Supreme 7.3
I am over 8 hours. About 25% left on the status bar. So far so good. My guess by the time I wake up tomorrow it will be all set.
For reference, my database is just a little over 160,000 images
UPDATE:
Sometime in the evening everything completed. Tool is operating as expected.... but seems a bit speedier. Yes, the bug in the "Details" tab with "multiple files selected" is fixed. Life is good.

Re: Photo Supreme 7.3
FWIW ~27,000 images took ~30 minutes on a fairly basic (these days) Windows PC compared to what many users on this forum are using.
Re: Photo Supreme 7.3
Yes mine has been running for about 24 hours and about 75% done around 300,000 images, the laptop with just the most current stuff was a lot quicker

Re: Photo Supreme 7.3
I can confirm the long run time of the db conversion. Mine took roughly 20 hours (approx. 240K assets).
Re: Photo Supreme 7.3
I have 99,000 images and past updates of the database normally only took a few minutes. This upgrade took over five hours. Also, my cat.db file size has now grown from 6.8 GB to 12.2 Gb (I compacted the file before and after the upgrade).
Re: Photo Supreme 7.3
I have ~44K images and the update took about 2 hours. The cat.db file has become ~two times larger.
Re: Photo Supreme 7.3
I think I'll wait on this update. Hours to update the database and then doubling in size doesn't seem right to me.
Re: Photo Supreme 7.3
Ok, here is my experience with this upgrade. I use PC single user version on Windows 10.
Firstly, this is a major (slow) upgrade to the database so make sure you backup your database before installing PhotoSupreme 7.3. Better safe than sorry.
The application install is quick and painless as usual but the database upgrade on the first run took between 10 and 20 hours to complete for me. (I left it run overnight, so I don’t know exactly how long it took.) My catalog has 387K images so I will be at the top end of the upgrade time, but allow a reasonable number of hours for your database upgrade to complete.
My database sizes in GB for this upgrade are listed below.
Version______________________cat.db_____thumbs.db
7.2.0.4432___________________15.613_____71.505
7.3.0.4438___________________22.502_____71.505
7.3.0.4438 after Compress_____19.749_____71.500
I didn’t do a database compress immediately before the upgrade, but it was only a few hours previous with only a few catalog changes prior to the upgrade. Thus, my experience is the thumbnail database size didn’t change in size but the catalog database increased in size about 30% (50% before compressing).
Hopefully this is helpful as to what you might expect with your upgrade.

Re: Photo Supreme 7.3
Very similar results to the above, the final size of the cat.db has reduced from previous backups, with 322K images it took around 40 Hours total.

Re: Photo Supreme 7.3
Just been wandering around the new much faster "Details" section and noticed some oddities with the counts.
In quite a few cases a count of 1 is shown with no matching image as in this image for the "Job Identifier" Only two images should have counts (the IPTC reference images), however a number of other random codes appear but with no matching image so unable to select them and clear the "value" stored ?????
So how can I clear these with no file name to even manually process in any way ?

Re: Photo Supreme 7.3
That depends on what version you come from. If you migrated from 4432 to 7.3 then the size will decrease. If you migrated from a version before 4432 then the size will increase.G8DHE wrote: 22 Jul 22 8:49 Very similar results to the above, the final size of the cat.db has reduced from previous backups, with 322K images it took around 40 Hours total.

Re-import the metadata (Ctrl+Alt+S or Cmd+Opt+S) to get the metadata updated in the catalog.G8DHE wrote: 22 Jul 22 9:21 So how can I clear these with no file name to even manually process in any way ?
