Several keywords for different labels
Several keywords for different labels
Hello,
is there a way to attach several keywords with the assignment to one label?
For example: in the category "People" I have the names of the different people like Tom, Jim etc. In a subcategory under "Miscelleanous" I have "Tom + Jim". If I assign a picture to "Tom + Jim" it gets the keyword "Tom + Jim", is it possible to attach also the keywords "People:Tom" and "People:Jim" to this picture automatically?
Greetings from Germany
Thomas

A catalog label “Tom+Jim” is not something I’d recommend, for the simple reason that one label can’t be another label and label names should be atomic
There is the concept of Label Sets. You can add label Tom and label Jim to a Label Set named Tom+Jim. Then assign that set to have Tom and Jim assigned in one click.
A label set can be created from the Label’s details or from the Label Assignment Panel.

Re: Several keywords for different labels
If I have labeled all pictures, where Tom is seen, with "People:Tom" and all which show Jim with "People:Jim", how can I find the pictures, on which Tom and Jim are shown with nobody else (remember your wife asking for pictures of your children for the grandparents for example). I did it in Aperture with the extra label/keyword.
I think that PSU is a database which goes much further than Aperture, but if you don't have a complete manual, nobody knows how to use it. I've found many functions which may do some great things, but don't know how to use it.

Re: Several keywords for different labels
Hmmm, searching is extensively described in the manuals. Also searching for something like Jim+Tom is described there (find the manuals in the Hamburger menu->Help).
Also read the Searching manual, it explains many search features, including the search bar, but also Dynamic Searching (Yay, wait until you see that power)
At the forum, I can give more detaillistic tips; eg type Jim+Tom in the search bar. Or Jim+Tom-Jack to get all images of both but with Jack excluded. Re: Several keywords for different labels
I've printed out the help-files for easier access, but my question isn't answered there.
How do I define "Jim+Tom-everybody" even, if there are other people in the picture which are not defined in "People"? I don't want a picture in the calender with Jim and Tom standing between other people for example. That the reason why I had/still have the label "Jim+Tom". I would be glad to find a other solution.
By the way how do you drop the screen shots here without saving them first?

Re: Several keywords for different labels
Aah, I missed the "no other people" part. That makes it more complex.
I've written a filter script for you;
http://repository.idimager.com/openreso ... D4E00A6198
Download the script and store it in the folder:
Windows: %localappdata%\IDimager Systems, Inc.\Scripts\FilterScripts
macOS: ~/Library/IDimager Systems, Inc./Scripts/FilterScripts
Create the folder if needed.
To use;
1. Search for Jim+Tom
2. Click the FILTER button and select Filter With Exactly Two People Labels
Is that helpful?

There is no such directory, but I found one in the photo supreme.app. Is it this?

~/Library/IDimager Systems, Inc./Scripts/FilterScripts
Create that folder if it doesn’t exist. Then copy the file in there

Re: Several keywords for different labels
Did you get this to work?
In case you don't know how to create that folder;
1. Start Finder
2. Press Cmd+Shift+G
3. Type in the folder name, including the leading tilde, but without FilterScripts at the end and press enter
4. If needed, create the folder FilterScripts

Re: Several keywords for different labels
Hello,
it works.
I dragged the pictures from "People:Tom" and "People:Jim" into the dynamic search and then use the filter and it worked. But you will also find pictures with other people and I think you have excluded the rest of "People". That will only work if you have all pictures with people in "People". Or am I wrong?

Re: Several keywords for different labels
Thank you so much for this filter script - I have wanted this for years. I think the ability to enter a search parameter with this sort of "only" criteria in the Search bar would be a powerful and fantastic future enhancement. Thanks Again.
Re: Several keywords for different labels
The "ONLY" criteria would be a wonderfull enhancement. Maybe in the form of "ONLY(argument1 AND/OR argument2 AND/OR argument3 AND/OR...)"
Than you can search for more the 2 persons or other labels.
@tplunkett: please make a suggestion in MANTIS and you get my support.

Re: Several keywords for different labels
One little tip for assigning "People:Jim" and "People:Tom" in one step:
create a label set with "People:Jim" and "People:Tom" inside, in the row of the label set you find a "hamburger" menu on the right side and there you can revoke and assign the complete label set in one step.
Maybe Hert can program a button in this row for fast assign/revoke. -> Edit: Mantis No. 3227
