I don't use a Mac but I seem to recall that there was some issue with using PSu inside Sandbox or not, the certificates not being updated as regularly as the releases of new versions. I think I read somewhere that Hert recommended using PSu outside of sandbox to benefit from more frequent updates. I would imagine that he has to pay apple for updating his certificates and therefore perhaps not every minor release gets certified?

In any case, I imagine it is pretty safe to run the installation via web update even with an expired certificate. Windows has the same kind of rather annoying nag screens that regularly pop up when one tries to install some freeware or software from small vendors. It assumes users are completely clueless about the software they install...

Of course if you are a bit paranoid and want to be 100% on the safe side I guess your only option is to wait until that certificate gets updated or perhaps until the next release...
