Photosupreme on MAC

Post by kochar »

We are evaluating Photosupreme for our internal use. Most of our users are MAC users.

I have created the photosupreme database on SQL Server 2012 and can successfully connect to it from a Windows workstation. When I try to connect from a MAC workstation, and I fill in the SQL Server, username and password and click on Test Connection it gives me an error 20009 and I am unable to use Photosupreme on a MAC. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

Hello, first a warm welcome on the forum.

You can try entering the IP address of the server instead of the host name of the server.

Have tried that also - no success. I can ping the server and IP address of the server from MAC workstation.

Can you share a screenshot of the login dialog where you have all the details filled in?

Make sure that you configure SQLServer to allow TCP/IP connections and that you configure your firewall on the server to accept connections on the configured port.

Also try google to get more possible causes for this SQLServer message.

The windows workstations work so the TCPIP connection to SQL Server is working.

Have tried googling this issue for MAC workstations with any success and resolution.

Have also upgraded from v2.0 to v3.0 without any success of getting the MAC workstation to work.

Have installed the software on multiple MACs with the same issue. Are there any settings or additional ODBC drivers that need to be installed on the MAC to get it to work?

Any guidance to resolve the issue will be appreciated.

Installed QuickLink ODBC Driver on MAC and am able to make the TCPIP connection to SQL Server using ODBC Tools so TCPIP is definitely not the issue.

This pretty much always means that something is either wrong with the host name of the server, user credentials, or that your database host cannot be accessed from the machine running Photo Supreme due to a networking issue or firewall rules.

Try entering the IP address of the server machine as the server host in Photo Supreme

Hi All,

I have the same problem - MAC doesn't connect to our server -. I have tried the advice from IDimager (Try entering the IP address of the server machine as the server host in Photo Supreme), but unfortunately it didn't work. Has anyone solved this issue? If yes, could you explain how, please?

I got the following error:

Unable to connect to the database.
The database reports:
TSQLServerConnection : Error 20009:
Unable to connect: Adaptive Server is unavailable or does not exist

Thanks for your help!!

Did anybody solve this issue meanwhile? I have exactly the same issue here: I can connect from a windows10 machine (using the ip) but not from a mac.
The mac does see the nas where the postgres server is running, I can access shared folders, but the identical server, port login settings do not work for mac???

Ah PostgreSQL, I thought this topic was about SQLServer.

What NAS are you using? And what PostgreSQL version is installed?
