Unable to open file "IDI_Application._fileBookmarks"

Post by DarkStar »

I just tried to open PhotoSupreme and got the error
Unable to open file "C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\IDimager Systems, Inc.\IDI_Application._fileBookmarks"

Press OK to ignore and risk data corruption.
Press Cancel to kill the program.
even though that file exists.

If I click OK, I get the error:
Access Violation.

Press OK to ignore and risk data corruption.
Press Cancel to kill the program.
If I press OK again, it opens, but it doesn't show any pictures and any button I click brings up the access violation error again.

Reinstalling Photo Supreme, renaming the <C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\IDimager Systems, Inc.\> folder, and reinstalling seems to have fixed the problem (it even remembered my custom database location), but I thought I'd mention the issue in case anyone else runs into it.

Thank you for reporting this. In addition to your post: On Windows this file can be deleted without consequences. No need to reinstall. Simply close PSU, delete that file and start PSU. The next update won't load this file anymore when not applicable.

For completeness; this file is only relevant for the Photo Supreme version that is downloaded from the Mac App Store. If you manually delete the file (for whatever reason) then you must restore the authorizations afterwards. Do that from the menu by selecting Tools->Restore Folder Authorizations. Again, this only applies to the version that was purchased from the MacAppStore. For all other versions this file is meaningless.
