In IDimager I could add/modify labels to my hierarchic trees without loosing the current selection of imported pictures in a portfolio or in a folder: there was a Catalog Explorer mode and a Catalog Assignment mode, and I could toggle between the two modes while having my group of pictures selected, in order, for instance, to define new labels and assign these labels to the currently selected pictures.
In Photo Supreme, I can't find it: if I try to toggle to Catalog for label editing, the current picture selection disappears...
Thanks,

How to create/edit catalog labels with images selected
Re: How to create/edit catalog labels with images selected
It might be worth exploring the "back" button or the history facility, the latter accessed by click and hold on the back button.

Use the Label Assignment Panel. Click "Assign" in the control bar below the thumbs to open it.
Create a new label there by entering the name and select "Create new" it it doesn't exist yet. You can also right click on a box to edit a label.
Also try the magnifying glass drop down
