Tips for working with Photo Supreme

What is Text Expansion?
Text Expansion allows users to type a short abbreviation, which then expands into a longer block of text or a predefined phrase. This can significantly enhance productivity by reducing the need to type repetitive text, or common phrases.

The Cataloging Manual also describes this new feature. Search for "Working with Text Expansion".

I also like to point out that you can repeat the same abbreviation to get a prompt to select the text to expand with.
You can also use the abbreviations throughout the application's edit fields. That means you can also use it in the search box or as a way to quickly lookup names of frequently used Catalog Labels.

A few possible use cases:

And last but not least, you can organize your lists anyway you want, for instance as a sprots photog you may have a one list with all football players per league, or one list of players per team, or one big list with all players. Use this in a way that is most convenient.

When setup to your preference, this can be a huge time saver. Experiment with this to see how Text Expansion can benefit your workflow.

Here's a way to see all technical details for all specific photos that meet a condition. In this example I want to see all different Focal Lengths for one specific folder (the Condition). The condition could be anything, eg all photos from a year, a catalog label, a category, a portfolio, a collection, and all possible combinations such as all "2024 images with a specific catalog label". But in this case the condition is a single folder.

1. Select that folder in PSU
2. Right click on the folder and select "Add to Catalog Filter". There's a keyboard shortcut you could use for this.

3. The entire catalog is now filtered to show only this folder.
4. Go to Details -> Technical -> Focal Length to see all values

5. You can click the Catalog Filter button to toggle the filter ON/OFF

Of course, if you are a hardcore Photo Supreme user, you know that there will not be any differences between the catalog and the file as Photo Supreme takes care of that.
However, if for some reason you do end up with unexplainable differences between the file and what is in the catalog, then this may help.

You can right click on a thumb -> Run Script from Repository -> Metadata -> Compare XMP in File and Catalog
