Facial recognition: a new option
Re: Facial recognition: a new option
Just need to grab copies of the Log files before there purged as it only keeps the last 5-10 files it seems.

Not really keen on subscrition software, but I have been missing an automatic face tagger since Picasa went belly-up (and probably was cloud-assisted as well).
- no previous experience with Idimager whatsoever...

Interesting news, thank you.
How well does this software perform its task?
Have you tried the face recognition i Google Photos? Can you compare the two services?

Trying to get a lot of old pictures out to the family
Re: Facial recognition: a new option
It works rather well for my purposes, often too well, as I now have many hundreds of faces from spectators at events that I am unable to identify
You can however mark them for deletion, once you have worked out if they were competitors or just bystanders!
Biggest problem is that I need to "verify" all files on a regular basis to ensure that PSU is up to date with the changes it makes to the files, using the log files is not proving to be that successful whilst I'm trying to process all the last few years files. Hopefully once the backlog are sorted then the number of files to be "verified" will become more manageable and the log extracts may be sufficient
I haven't tried Google, but don't trust the idea of sending facial images up to the cloud for ANY purpose way too many risky reasons to even contemplate doing so, hence why I prefer TTP as its carried out locally, there are stats sent to a central server but we are talking about a few hundred bytes whilst its processing images.

Re: Facial recognition: a new option
Is anyone using the new V2 that came out in Sept last year? Does it still work as well? Better? How does PSU react to it?
I have a whole pile of images with various family members and friends going back to old scanned images that I would like to properly file. Doing this manually is too much work. I need some automation help and was hoping this TTP would be the solution.
I like that it is a local solution. I don't particularly like the idea that my images have to be sent to Google for them to do their magic if I understand the PSU option correctly. Even if all metadata is scrubbed, the images are still visible (recognition wouldn't work otherwise) and I know that several of the relatives would object, strenuously.
How is the subscription model working out? I generally don't like that method but if this is the best game in town, I might have to add some water in my wine.

Re: Facial recognition: a new option
Using version 2.6.20212 at present all seems fine.
I guess the subscription model is OK.
Finding some oddities with .TIF files, which keep on being rescanned as if changed, not sure if its TTP or PSU possibly interacting together.

Re: Facial recognition: a new option
Hi All. I've been wanting to do face recognition in PSU and found this thread with interest. I'm playing with TTP and it seems to work quite well.
I am confused though, because the opening post seems to suggest that PSU can do this too, only I've never been able to find a way to make PSU do face recognition. Not through lack of trying.
If PSU can do face recognition why would there be a need for TTP? Or am I mistaken, and PSU does not in fact do face recognition.
Could someone please clarify for me?

Re: Facial recognition: a new option
There is a difference between AI Face detection and Face Recognition.
The latter will identify the same face across multiple images and put names against such areas, whilst the former will simply identify basic face locations within an image for manual recognition and naming.

Got it. Thank you!
