The HDD is working the whole time, does PSu write the data into the files? I just wanted a dynamic collection by month with no entries into the files because the date is already in the exif data.

If your Write settings are enabled to write changes when changes are made to the metadata, the answer is yes. Custom fields are XMP fields. I have two custom fields that contain "duplicate" info, but it makes the process easier. In my workflow, I use a macro directly in a field on the Details panel. The XMP is rewritten, but only takes a minute or two for several hundred images. I haven't used dynamic collections so I don't know if they require a lot of database writing in addition to the changes in the XMP.

But when you introduce an new custom field for your complete library, you don't have several hundred images, my library has over 80.000 images.
I hope that Hert reads this and find a way to introduce the exif-date in the technical details.

But I want to thank you for your efforts.
