Problems to import from card reader

Post by tumirnix »

Hello all,
starting with one of the last updates (currently I'm using 2025.1.8.7780 on Windows 11 and 10), the import from an SD card reader does not work anymore, when I imported first some images from a local temp folder.
I have to open the menu "Import to Catalog" manually (in earlier versions, this opened, when the card was inserted into the card reader),
then I use "More settings..." and to select the different source. When I select the drive "E:" or "F:" PSU claims, that this were not be available.
But the folder is available in the Windows Explorer.

Restarting of PSU seems to help.

Has anyone made a similar experience?
Best regards

I believe this should work from PSU, but i'm not using this option. I try to circumvent this from happening by first dropping my files from card to a drop folder on a hard drive. From there, i run the import into PSU.

Hi HCS,
thanks for your reply. I'm using the same way to put first the images from a smartphone to a temporary folder on the PC/Laptop and in a second step I import it into PSU from the temporary folder.
This is still working
Best regards

Yes, I am having the same issue with the last couple of version and have already reported the issue to support.

When I insert a SD card, I need to manually start the importer. When I insert a USB drive, I need to restart Photo Supreme before I can use the drive. Both these issues have been reported to support and I am sure will be fixed shortly.

I also had this problem a long time ago and now copy the photos to a folder on the PC first.
Importing from this folder via PSU works without any problems.
However, copying the photos with Windows sometimes stops immediately after starting, I then have to press “repeat” on the selection field. All the photos are then moved to the folder.

Hert has fixed the issues with detecting removable drives in 2025.2.0.7801. Upgrade and you should have no more issues.

Hi Hert and "gcorbin",
thanks for your support and your information. I can confirm that with the version 2025.2.0.7825 the import recognized the SD card in the card reader and started as expected.
Have a nice rest of the weekend
