Changing Titles

Post by Larry56 »

I thought there was a way to change a file title with some predefined context menu. I think in the past I could select Details tab and the right click on Titles and select insert Headline. I no longer have that context menu in 2025. Is there another way to do that?

I just found that the context menu shows up if I right click on the Software box but not Titles.

Edit. Somehow I was able to edit that field in insert from context menu but I don't know how I did it. I noticed there were green dots by fields when I could edit but can't figure out how to get in edit mode. Any ideas?

Do you mean Details|Descriptions|Document Title ?
You can add it to the Info panel as well of course, there are a couple of other fields with TITLE in the name as well.

Yes. Sorry I wasn't clearer.

While going to that field just now I think I've found how to make the context menu work. I was clicking in the Document Title field at the front of the title box but all I got was spelling options. But when I click on the space after the existing Document title (the file name without extension) the context menu does show up. So I can easily make changes but the context menu doesn't show if I delete the existing title. I have to add the new information and manually delete the file name.

I think the Document Title is a separate field from File name. Some devices do load the original file name into that field when its created so that you can track the source of a file even if the filename is subsequently changed.

In my case Document Title is the file name. I upload to Smugmug and they use Document Title as the caption under the photo so I need to manually change that by copying Headline into that field. Psu will do that automatically for me except Smugmug made a change in their API which prevents me from uploading to an existing gallery. I need to use their app or I can try On1 Photo Raw but theirs is terrible. Slow and the gallery selection screen is way to busy for easy use.

I'm still working with Smugmug and Idimager on this so things may change.
