How to Import Metadata/Face Tags from FotoBounce

I'm way behind the times and have been using FotoBounce (which shutdown in 2018) to detect & tag faces in photos. I researched to find a new photo manager and read lots of good reviews about Photo Supreme, but after going through the PDFs, the website and this forum, I didn't see any option or information on how to import all my tagged faces and metadata from FotoBounce into Photo Supreme.

The FotoBounce website (which is thankfully still online) states that a 3rd party app (Tag That Photo) will be able to properly import all the data from FotoBounce. So my initial plan was to: Install TTP > Import from FotoBounce and then to Install Photo Supreme > Import from TTP.
But apparently TTP's free plan only allows indexing 10 unique faces. And since I'm planning on buying the Single-User license for Photo Supreme, I'd prefer not having to ALSO pay for a TTP license (just to import Fotobounce data).

Not sure if it helps, but this is how FotoBounce stores all the data:
Once you select a folder to use as a photo library in FotoBounce, it creates a subdirectory in that folder where it stores all the metadata, face tags and thumbnails. The files in this directory are: faces.db, images.db, library.db, templates.db

If your current software writes the face areas using standard metadata such as IPTC XMP Regions, or MWG, or Microsoft Areas, then Photo Supreme will read them and create the areas on import. You can try to import a few photos and check if the areas roll in.

On their website they state that TTF, Picasa and MS Photo Gallery will import the areas which gives me the impression that they use MWG or MS regions.

I checked the EXIF data on some of the photos and there was no face area information attached to the images. Unfortunately, I think FotoBounce stores the face areas & metadata in a database file that is located in the directory of the photo library (see screenshot from FotoBounce manual below).

I downloaded the Tag That Photo manual and I'm not sure if I'm understanding it correctly or not, but it sounds like TTP imports a FotoBounce library by literally taking each photo from the library, attaching the metadata to it and then saving it as a new file; which can then be imported. I'm really hoping that I'm wrong about my interpretation of the wording in the manual, otherwise, that means it wants to duplicate my ENTIRE library which will take for ever and take up tons of disk space. Before spending much time in figuring out if a tool reads these areas or not I would personally try it first.

Install a PSU trial and import one or two photos of which you know have face detected areas. Then see if those appear in PSU.

1. Install PSU
2. Start PSU
3. Drag one or two files (or folders) to PSU
4. Open a thumb for a file that you know has faces in the Viewer (double click)
5. If PSU found areas in the metadata then you should see them in the viewer.

WOW! Let me start by saying I'm blown away at all the options you've made available for organizing and filtering files. I felt a little intimidated when I first launched PSU, but within a few minutes of exploring, me and my OCD started falling in love , lol.

I ended up importing several images from 3 different albums (that I had tagged in FotoBounce), and unfortunately none of the metadata / face tags were found

That’s very disappointing and means that they store the faces in a proprietary database or file.
This shows once again that when someone decide to use a product that they should always verify that there’s a viable exit plan.
Can’t fotobounce export its data to a file? A flat file maybe?

The only option export option available in FotoBounce is to "Export to folder". And in the documentation, that means it exports a copy of the image with the metadata attached to it.
So basically, it would export the images the same way TTP would try and import them...which goes right back to the 2 main issues (needing a ton of hard disk space to basically create duplicates of ALL images, and the insane amount of time that would take with all the images I have).
