activating face detection

Post by crabuback »

In PS 2024 I pulled up an image to try face recognition, but I can't figure out how to activate it. The manual says to select it from the menu (is this the hamburger menu?) or to press the F key. I do not see it in the menu and pressing the F key does not do anything.

I've made a short video to help getting you started.

Thank you for the nice video, Hert.
Just one small thing: In your video all areas are visible all the time. When I use it, the areas are (mostly) only visible when I hover the mouse over each one. Is there a setting for this somewhere or is it just a coincidence?
Also, I find myself doing a lot of confirming the identifications. Can this be done quicker - like confirm all areas or using af shortcut?

Best regards,
Jesper

When your viewing the images, bottom right corner is the Options, you can select a wide variety of things there including when the areas are shown.

Have i press "f" for every single image? So i have over 100.000 images.
My son become 18 and i want to create a photobook about his first 18 years. For some years i hadn't tag the images. So i want to confirm some images with his face and then search for them in these years. Is that possible?

First pick a few images (let's say 5) that clearly display your son.
Open each image and press F and confirm your son's face area

Once you've trained the AI you can do it in bulk.
Select multiple thumbs -> Right click on a selected thumb -> Operations -> Detect Faces offline for Files

I would personally not do that on 100K images. Try to make smarter selections.
