Switching to an external catalog

Post by Roman »

When switching catalogs the catalog files located in the user's Appdata directory appear in a drop-down list. This makes switching catalogs simple. In order to free up disk apace I have migrated a large number of images, along with the relevant catalog files, to an external drive. This appears to work reasonably well, but I have one niggle. Each time I switch to the catalog on the external drive I have to browse for the relevant catalog file (it does not appear in the drop down list of catalogs). I would have expected this for the first access but would have thought it would be remembered for subsequent accesses. I know that if I move the external catalog files to the local Appdata folder it will resolve the issue, but it will also consume over 200GB of my local SSD drive (more than 20% of the drive's capacity). I know it is not a major issue, but has anyone else found this inconvenient?

I'm not sure, but I mean PSU can only display catalogs from a common directory. You can move all your catalogs to external drive.

A possible solution (not for the faint hearted) could be to move the Catalog folder to the ssd and replace the original Catalog folder by a link pointing to the displaced Catalog. It may work.
