Drag and Drop - Filter Forge

Post by Bethcee »

Hi Hert

I am having trouble with using drag and drop into Filter Forge from PS. Filter Forge does accept drag and drop from other software but not from PS. I have added Filter Forge also as an external editor and this does not work.

The only work around is to open in Windows Explorer and drag from there. Is this anything that can be resolved? I am currently looking to transfer all of my image management into PS but this is a workflow killer.

Many thanks
B

To drag to another application, hold down the Alt key and do the drag/drop operation.

Yes, I do that - no joy. Could it be anything to do with my other post about 2nd monitor issues?

Did you keep the alt key pressed before and during the dragging operation? Alt-Drag is an external drag operation. Try it with another application; eg Photoshop

And you also had the Alt key pressed before starting the drag operation?
Try Alt+dragging to Windows Explorer.

I can drag and drop into explorer - no problem. Just Filter Forge it seems. But I can drag and drop from another (actually two other) DAMs into Filter Forge which makes me think it may be something with PS.

I've just Alt-Drag&Dropped into PaintShop without problems, but when trying it into PhotoShop and explorer is appeared as a Short-Cut link not the actual image itself ? This was under W11.

Try Ctrl+Alt+Drag instead of Alt+Drag

FYI: Alt+Drag is a copy+link drag operation. The receiving application should support copy and/or link operations (some Windows application cannot handle combined drag/drop kinds)
Ctrl+Alt+Drag is a copy drag operation. The receiving application should support copy operations.

Ah yes, that works in all cases! Now just to remember that combination :-)
