PSU not reading the lens field
PSU not reading the lens field
Some folders it does, others it doesn't read the lens even though the information is present when I use a photo editor. I verified the folder, updated everything but still no lens info. Any ideas how to import it?
Re: PSU not reading the lens field
Is it a particular file type like a RAW of some sort ?

Funnily enough it is just the RAW's. If I edit in DXO Photolab and save as a TIFF, then import back into PSU the lens data is present in the TIFF but not the RAW even though they are versioned. And just SOME folders. Some, my most recent ones, are just fine.
Re: PSU not reading the lens field
That sounds like a typical case of metadata discrepancy. Some tool wrote XMP but didn’t convert the technical metadata (Exif) to XMP leaving you with half baked and inconsistent metadata layers.
Psu can fix that.
Try right click-> Metadata -> Convert metadata to XMP.

Hert, you are a genius.
Historical information... My metadata problems began with ACDSee which produced a corrupt database with illegal characters and term duplications and has left their proprietary sidecar files all over the place. I had to convert their catalog to IPTC and that's where the corruptions occurred. When I switched to Alien Skin Exposure it was an utter mess and their tech support did yeoman duty getting me squared away. In importing to PSU there were still some residual errors that I needed to fix and this is one of them.
With PSU I finally have a well structured database and can actually find things. Kudos!
