First of all Hello, I am new to PS but am enjoying it so far. Of course I have had a lot of questions but most of which I have found and answer to myself.
I use Capture One as my editor of choice and am using PS as a DAM. To cope with the different Label: Colour-Naming-Convention between the 2 programs my Idea is to include a 'Custom Field' in the Dynamic Search Option. I can get the Label into the Custom Fields OK and that works, but in the Dynamic Search option it doesn't appear. I only have 2 options here and these are not the one that I want. Is this a bug? or is it only possible to include 2? surely not.
I would be grateful for any tips to help me around this problem. I guess I need to reset the dynamic search options but as yet I have not managed it.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Best wishes from Switzerland
Neil
Dynamic Search
Re: Dynamic Search
Hi Neil, a very warm welcome to the forum.
Custom Fields can be added to a Dynamic Search from the Details section. However, only XMP based custom fields can be added as those are part of the catalog. If you created a macro based custom field then that is not available as its output value is not database driven...it can even be a script that is based on a formula.
How did you define your custom field?
tnx

Re: Dynamic Search
Hi Hert, OK I think I have found my way around this. The solution is for me as follows: Here is my workflow.
Import everything in Capture One Sessions
1. Everything that is not good (out of focus, missed etc) is ready to be deleted and gets the color 'red'
2. Keepers get the color 'Yellow' and 'Green' is assigned to photos that I publish or print (ie ones that are finished)
When I am finished in Capture One I delete all the color 'red' and move over to PSu
In PSu the colors 'green' and 'yellow' are correctly assigned and I can start Cataloging (also using the dynamic search as I had wanted.
If I ever want to go back to the Keepers I open the Session again in Capture One and continie to work as normal. I just need to remember to update the metadata and then in PSü verify everything again.
Thanks for your patience.
Best wishes Neil

Re: Dynamic Search
Hi Nell,
I use CO1 and PSu too. Working with Color Label is hard because every application understand it differently. Example : no color label is "No Label" in PSu and "none" in CO1.
But PSu offers you a great feature : Catalog Label. How it works ? Look in documentation, it's very interesting.
I have solved this prob using keywords(CO1) and Catalog Label (PSu) for workflow.
In PSu, I create a category named WorkFlow. I add item like status, quality... And in Status I create ToBad, 4Evaluation, webpublic....
For each status, I define a color in Detail profile (example : green for 4Evaluation, Blue for webpublic, red for TooBad...) and I choose "Unassign labels with same parent.
When people edit picture in CO1, they add a hierarchical keyword like workflow>status>4Evaluation or workflow>status>TooBad....
Back in PSu, I read metadata from file sync in CO1, and PSu does the magic : converting keyword status in catalog label, the color label is updated and old status of the picture, erased.
And if sync is enabled, CO1 update the color too.
It's working very well by me, with more than 120 kpics.
Like Hert tell me 2 month ago, try it on a test folders. PSu is like a Ferrari : For newbie it's not so easy in the beginning, but after practice, you shall understand how it's powerful.
