Drag & Drop import profile

Post by BrianS »

Hi Hert,

Drag & drop folders/ files is very handy however there seems no way to import this way with an import profile.
As soon as I 'drop' import starts without any dialog.

Is there any plan to introduce a dialog in preferences e.g. choices of ask Yes/No , if Yes use default, none, choose?

Dropping a folder is the same as a Verify Folder where the results are automatically processed. That is not the same as importing a folder. You can use Import Folder for that.

oh exactly that would have become my favorite, take over folder structures 1: 1 with processing according to profiles behind them ...

Hi Hert, thanks for your response, apologies for my delay in responding,
Understand Drag&Drop same as Verify Folder.
However AFAIK using Importing a folder doesn't give you any profile choice either - as soon as you select the folder it starts importing - seems to be the same as verify/drag and drop.

Only "Import To Catalog" gives you a choice of the import profile drop down at the top of the screen, plus "More Settings".

Another nice thing about drag and drop is you can choose multiple folders plus individual files (in the parent folder) all at the same time.
In my case I am importing images belonging to some articles - top folder is the Issue #, which has a "cover" image, and an "Images" sub folder with folder for each article. With drag and drop I select the cover image file plus the Images folder, drag and drop and all are imported.
