Post by mantras »

Hi

my workflow is photo supreme , capture one , and really sometime i use ps cs6 normal edition

but sadly i had to work on other computer with other software like photo mechanic 6 and lightroom and so on

I can select thumbnails and send quickly to photo mechanic 6
but sometime i need to select 1 photo and send the folder of this photo to photo mechanic

is there a way to have a script to select a thumbnail and send the its folder to photo mechanic 6 ?

You can send thumbnails to another application by holding down the Alt button and then dragging the thumb to another application.

By sending one photo to Photo Mechanic then I assume that PM opens that folder. It's a Browser, not a catalog tool, so it works with the file system instead of with a catalog and so to show the file it needs to open that folder on disk.

I haven't ever worked with PM. If it doesn't work like that then you can use the option right click -> Run from Repository -> File System -> Copy Filename to Clipboard.

Ask Photo Mechanic how you can open a folder for a file.
In PSU your can right click -> Show More -> From This Folder to see all files for the folder of a single thumbnail. I assume that PM has something similar. For a photo browser it makes no sense to not be able to access a folder for a file...even most DAM software allow that.

Anyway, your question is if you can send a folder from Photo Supreme to another application...you can by selecting all thumbs for a folder and then Alt+Drag that to another application or "normal" drag them to a configured external application.

In addition I've now created a script to copy the Folder name to clipboard (in line with the Copy File Name script). Find it in the same menu (you may need to restart PSU to see it).
