Feature Request; Display focus point?

Post by apanella »

I found this request from 2014: "0002345: display focusing point". It seems to be an open item in Mantis (not sure)

I've tried to look through the help files and the interface for the feature, but I am starting to guess the feature is not available.

I have used the focus point to help speed my culling process and revert back to the camera manufacturer tool to do so. Not having the image focus point displayed is Photo supreme is not a deal breaker, but, as a selfish request, I would like this feature in Photo Supreme.

Is it even worth considering (i.e. many user would like this option)... or is it just not possible to implement in DAM based program?

Isn't this info kept in the proprietary metadata for each manufacturers camera data, so it may not even be available ?

Just checked out exiftool.org and each make is different here is the info for Nikon https://exiftool.org/TagNames/Nikon.html#AFInfo
and here for Canon https://exiftool.org/TagNames/Canon.html#AFInfo
each Make and image format may vary as well it seems .

Geoff, I was starting to think it is probably too difficult (impossible?), too. I was guessing it may be hidden in "makers notes" or similare, but I do not have any idea. As a work around, I do some culling in the manufactures native software, but this breaks the "only use the DAM for any file management (including delete)" rules I have set for myself.

PSU has the wonderful "verify" options that works very well... Easy to use, fast, well done in every scenario I have tried. But I can't help but think that I am doing things out of order a bit.

Thanks for your insight.

A focus mask, similar to what Capture One has, would probably be a more useful feature, and it would work equally well for all cameras.
