Meanwhile,
Windows 10 Pro
i7-7700 @ 3.60 GHz
16 GB

PSU program on a 256 SSD
PSU catalog on a 1 TB SSD
Images on a Buffalo 11 TB NAS HHD in raid 5

100 files
Done in 32.42 sec. Total time for sync is 31.97. Average per image is 0.32 sec
The same files using Ctrl-Alt-S took about 13 sec which is about 0.13 sec per image.

Not too shabby and sync freezing has been very rare since 5.6.0.3361. I was pressing too many buttons and things froze. Don't know it i had let it run if it might have eventually sorted things out but being impatient, I told the program to close, waited a bit and restarted without any apparent ill effects.

Just had a Sync freeze on the laptop! However Synching itself was going on, merely the display in the Activity pane was not updating it had started with 213 images out of Sync, when I realised that the progress bar wasn't moving I cancelled it, started Sync again, still no movement on the progress bar, cancelled it, closed and restarted PSU and the non-sync images was down to 185, restarted the Sync and all progressed normally to completion.....

Can you retry this with build 3374? Thanks

Well tries a few small Sync's this afternoon, nothing to report as they progressed as normal but over the next few days I may have some larger ones process.

Installed 3374 without incident and continued labelling existing images.Added many and removed a few. The Labels window shows the applied values in green and the Activity bar shows the progress of the Synchronize Service. It has been stuck at 33.8% for the last ten minutes. There are 42 images showing the red dot in their lower left corner. Task Manager does not show any CPU or disk activity for IDImagerSU.exe.
Short of stopping the application, is there anything I could do to make it continue? Any diagnostics i could run to help solve this?

PS
There is occasional minor CPU activity but nothing else changes

I have just installed build 3374. The synchronize service does not freeze anymore after verifying a folder.
Thanks a lot!

Hours later, with nothing happening, I closed PSU and reopened it. The 42 red dots are there and show in the Out of Sync. Manually initiated a save metadata to file. Continuing ...

... had one more "not responding." while cycleing through a set of images, one at a time and applying a limited set of labels. At one image, I tried to apply the same label that had been applied to a previous image and everything froze. The cursor became a bluish ring and nothing else was happening. I let it sit for awhile, while I went off to do other work on another computer. Suddenly PSU reanimated and has continued to work as if nothing happened.

After an evening of adding labels to 1000's of images, no more sync issues. Only one Not Responding that lasted for about 10 sec. Looks like 3374 has done it.

Sad to say but the issue is still active. After a long session in the Categories area, making corrections (adding and removing labels) I see that the Synchronize Service has stalled again. Is the named image the one that has stalled or is it the last one to have completed successfully? Even then, since the same image exists in multiple locations, I couldn't tell which one if any is the culprit.

Here is something to try....

I never had a problem like this.... then, over the holidays, I added a dock and two additional monitors. Wow. Although every other application worked well, it was a disaster for PSU. PSU became intermittent (dare I suggest unusable?). Moving PSU between windows guaranteed a stall. There were also many stalls during my typical usage. Unplugged from the dock, problem went away. Dock/UnDock a couple times. Same conditions. Stalling/Stable. Rinse/Repeat. Perfect... this means I found a switch!

After some searching/experimenting... This is what seems to work for me...

Win10 > Rt. Click on Photo Supreme launch icon > Properties > Compatibility > Disable full screen optimizations = checked
Win10 > Rt. Click on Photo Supreme launch icon > Properties > Compatibility > Change High DPI Settings > Overide high DPI scaling = checked; drop-down set to "application".

Result: A stable PSU is back! Not one stall (either docked or undocked) since implementing these changes (about 5 days).

Disclosure: I am not familiar enough with PSU to understand what features this configuration may hurt. YMMV. Maybe someone else has more experience in this area?

Yes, its cropped up a couple of times now, partially thru Sync writes in this case, progress bar stops, CPU activity falls to zero, disk (database) and Network (Images) also falls to zero and a lockup requiring a forced close.
