Impossible to synchronize files since last update

Post by omiklos »

Hello,
I updated today Psu to the last version and since then (at least I just realized afterwards) I can not synchronize anymore my updated files (whether one of a group of files). Nothing happens when I launch a synchronization and the red marker on the thumbails stay unchanged.
I tried to get the synchronisation parameters back to default values in preferences, but that does not change anything.
Thanks in advance for any help

To be more specific, both the "Save Metadate to File" and "Read Metadata from File" don't work anymore (the synchronization service does not start). In contrast, the "Convert Metadata to XMP" is still functioning.

When you right click on a thumb and then select "Locate in Finder" (macOS) or "Locate in Windows Explorer", does it take you to the file?

Is this for particular files/extensions only? I assume you’re not in travel mode?

Btw, check https://whatsnew.idimager.com to see the changes. I don’t think the changes in the latest release can be of influence for syncing.

No I am not in travel mode. Actually I made a lot of changes on my base. Most of the files are JPG.

All syncing works fine here.

Did you try a reboot of your computer?

Are the files stored on the storage device (network or NAS share) machine, then try to reboot that device too

Can you try to import a new (camera virgin) image and check if you can sync it?

Can you change the files with other software?

If all fails, Can you send me a sample file that fails to sync at your end so I can check it here? support@idimager.com

Please also share details about your config. Like what OS, and how images are stored.

Hello Hert,

Thanks for your advises and help. Unfortunately I won't be able to try these for a fews days since I left home for a week.

But so far I can tell you that :

- I run PSu on Windows 10. I have around 82.000 files in my catalog. They are « read only ». Images are store on an internal HD of my computer.

- I also noticed a new thing since I updated PSu : every time I launch it, I now have on screen a proposal in order to compact my catalog. But if I accept this proposal, nothing really happens : the compact service opens briefly and closes imedilately. However if I launch the compacting procedure via the menu, it works, the compcat service small windows shows up and the process last for a good 5 minutes. But although I realize this compacting, the next time I reopen PSu I will still have again the same proposal for a compacting…
