Search for Rome brings up Venice photos

Post by peterpix »

When I search in the Search box for Rome I get many Venice photos also. None of the Venice photos have a Rome label, title, description or anything in IPTC to do with Rome. The only thing in common is that they all have an Italy label and Italy IPTC entry. The Rome label inherits its parent Italy, but surely that would nor produce all cities with an Italy label when I search Rome?

If anyone can cast any light on this I'd be grateful!

Peter

EDIT: I've found the answer. All the Venice images also have a label Monochrome. Not sure though how to just find Rome. Working on it.

EDIT 2: Some of the Venice images do not have a Monochrome label, nor any other association with Rome that I can find. So still flummoxed!

When using the search box then you're search ALL data that is available for ALL images. If your Venice image is returned as a result for searching Rome then that means that "somewhere" where is the text rome for that image. Could be in file name, could be in catalog label, could be in image details, etc etc.

If you only want to search in catalog labels then try limiting the search domain like this: rome@PROP

Also read through the Searching manual. Find it in the ? icon menu of the left side bar
