confused about search bar

I have been mostly using the catalog tree or dynamic searches to locate images. I just tried to use the search bar. The Quick Manual - Searching states "enter a search term and press enter. That’s it; nothing more to it." If I type a catalog label, suggestions pop up and I can click on them to perform the search. However, if I type information that I know is either in the Headline or Description fields, nothing happens when I press Enter or Return. What am I missing? I'm using build 5.4.1.2967. Thanks in advance for any help!

Are all your images imported correctly (do you have out of sync images?). Use Tools-“Read metadata for all out of sync” from the hamburger menu. And wait for it to finish. You may want to start that at a convenient moment, for example let it run overnight

No I have no out of sync images.

I do assume that you’re using the upper right search bar, and not some other search option.

try this:

1. Select an image
2. Open Image Details
3. Type something in description
4. Search for it with the search bar

That will find it.

Well, now I feel pretty stupid. No, don't ever assume that I am doing anything correctly . I was using the search bar on the upper left. I don't know why I didn't see the actual search bar on the upper right. I guess that once I saw a magnifying glass icon on the lest my focus just went there. It does say in the "Quick Start" manual that it's in the upper right corner. Perhaps the "Searching" reference manual could be changed to also mention that (that's what I was referring to when I decided to start using the search bar). Or maybe I'm the only one that did not see it there.
