Struggling to get workflow set up with Photos on macOS

Post by r39273 »

Hi,
I recently acquired a macos PSU license for my wife.

2 questions :

1- She typically uses built-in photos app to grab pics from the web by right-clicking and using the "add to photos" contextual menu.
now that she's got PSU on her macbook; what would be the best way to add photos/images to PSU when browsing the web ? Any way to configure a contextual menu that would "import image into PSU" directly?

2- If question #1 comes to a dead-end, then, an alternative is to go and import "OS X photos's container" regularly into PSU. but, even for this action, I am having troubles.. I can select users>"user's name">images> and then "photos container" but it looks like PSU is not able to read into the container. it might bee due to access rights as I can see a "stop" signage next to photos container logo. but I couldn't find a way to resolve this issue. any clue?

in general, it might be beneficial to create a tutorial on "how to get started on macos"; something similar to migration from Lightroom to PSU but for macos photos :-)

appreciate your inputs on the two questions above
thanks a lot,
regards

A warm welcome to the forum.

I assume your wife has the option "Copy items to the Photos Library" switched on. This means that the originals are then stored inside the Photo Library

Try this using Finder:
1. Find the Apple Photos library (most likely in your Pictures folder, if unsure, check your Photos Preferences)
2. Right click (Ctrl+click) on the library
3. Select "Show package contents"
4. Start PSU
5. Back in Finder, drag the folder "originals" to Photo Supreme and drop it

Photo Supreme will now import that folder

In Photo Supreme you can access the photos in the "Folders" section. Right click on the imported "originals" folder and select Verify -> Verify Quick to scan for new images after new images were added to Photos

Hi Hert,
Thanks a lot for your reply.
I was successful to import photos' container.
I think PSU would deserve a better integration w/ MacOS to make the import/sync with Photos smoother. Probably something to add to the wishlist ;-)

When using PSU and going into the folder section, i can't see the picture unless i get into the hierarchie down to where the pictures stand.
Is there a way that i can see pictures of a folder AND sub-folders judt by clicking on the root folder? i looked around for an option to configure this behavior but coudn't find :-(
Thks a lots
