Red folders

Post by rdv4rjm »

Using PSU server version for Windows, on server as well as on workstation.
Folders on workstation show RED.
When using Macs, folders were gray on Mac server and Mac workstation and assets would synch on the fly.

Can this be done on server and workstation both using windows?

Thanks.

Sounds like you have checked "Travel Mode" or the folders are off-line ?

1) I presume, from your answer that, yes, folders should be gray.

2) I have both, server and workstation side by side on isolated subnet.
PSU newly installed on workstation displayed all categories, and all folders, but these in red.
If I modify one asset, instantly, it shows to be out of synch on server.

Is "travel mode" a description of state of things, or an option one can click or unclick?

3) If ip address used as target to link to photo bank, how is it out-of-synch?
There is something I still need to understand.

Thanks.

It clicked!!

Had to map folder to common shared folder.

If I did so on Windows workstation, while server was a Mac, Server folders would become red.
But now, since workstation and server are Windows, both folders are gray, because both have same file structure.

Thanks for the help.

Had this problem on my wife's computer acting as a client with all the folders were red. Mapped folder to my computer pictures folder witch have the original pictures and got her folders gray on her computer. Now my computers folder structure is completely changed (used all to be under pictures folder) with some been intact and some new sub folder showing red.

It was quite hard to find the fix for her machine and now I have created yet another problem to fix. I can't for the best of me to understand how anyone can operate this program?

Thanks,

I see that you’re using the Server Edition. The purpose then is to import images from a central (shared) location that is accessible from both you and your wife’s computer. Apparently you’re taking another route.

You can, of course, also catalog images from your local hard drive. And that is what you’ve been doing. Then your wife can also find your picture (and visa versa) but the originals won’t be accessible from the other computer. Her local folders will turn red on your computer and your local folders will turn red on hers. That’s fine, you don’t have to relocate those.

In short, if you both want to have access to the original files then store the images on a central computer within your network...that can also be a shared folder on one of your personal computers
