PSU-3: May I have the "for development purposes only" map back again?

Post by Hondor »

I have remained on PSU-3, whiched used to serve my needs perfectly.

For some time, I have been looking at the "for development purposes only" overlay on the GEO tag sidebar, as I am strongly oppposed to connecting my identity to the Google Universe more than thecompany is able to fingerprint themselves.

Recently, I can't even access that option, as I now get the error "The Google Maps API does not support this browser" instead.

I notice, that my personal web site using Webtrees with Google maps functionality and a WordPress plugin "Google Maps widget" all work wonderfully Maps-wise without me having registered with any credit card on the Googleverse. I don't even have to look at overlays on those pages.

Also, the freeware program Geosetter works on my system (though with the development purposes overlay).

Can I get the slightly crippled Maps-functionality back on my PSU-3 with a registry hack or otherwise?

I'm on Windows 10 witn IE11 (11.316.17763.0) and PSU 3.3.0.2606 (64-bit)

Then Google has up’d their minimum requirements again, hence why Maps don’t work anymore. They did this last year as well.
Read this answer and set your IDimagerSU.exe registry key accordingly.

Hi Hert,

Many thanks for the quick reply. I had been searching the board for the rumoured registry hack, but my lookup skills seem to be deteriorating lately.

All is well now, thanks.
